Whether you’re a maid or bride-to-be, you might be wondering – what exactly is expected of a bridesmaid? While it varies from wedding to wedding, bridesmaids are a bride’s support system. Morgan shared her modeling talents with Brides of Oklahoma in the Route 66 gown shoot featured in our January issue. What a weekend! We just had to share this fabulous event we attended last Thursday as special guests of Marianne’s Rentals in Oklahoma City. These photos were captured by Dinsmore Studio to show off the awesome details and atmosphere. The party was just outside of the Mansion at Lake Overholser in the front lawn in a beautiful tent with draped ceiling, complete with a chandelier! The banquette seating can be dressed with any sort of pillows a bride would like. The hues, green and pink, were very fun and bright for spring! We just love the big trees that remind us of real cherry blossoms, and the cool linens. All of the party décor can be rented from Marianne’s Rentals in Oklahoma City. Mishelle Handy Cakes whipped up a gorgeous and delicious cake with coordinating cherry blossoms! So much fun! The lighted furniture was a huge hit from Innovative Event Solutions, and they also did all of the party lighting for the event. Cheever’s catering spoiled us with fabulous food and the entertainment had the place rockin! We were super-impressed by Box Talent’s newest band, Avenue who played a variety of songs from 80’s hits, hip-hop to pop tunes! All-in-all it was a very fun night surrounded by some of Oklahoma City’s finest wedding pros. Enjoy!

We love to hear about communities pulling together for good causes! Extreme Makeover Home Edition recently came to Oklahoma in February and we finally had a chance to check out some amazing pics from the seven-day adventure that provided the Skaggs family with a safe and gorgeous new home. Vendors from across the state pulled together to donate their time and services to this worthy family. Thanks to Amy Cakes in Norman, we have some behind-the-scenes pics to share! Amy Cakes made a variety of yummy cupcakes every day for the cast and crew of the Extreme Makeover team — they look so delicious! They finished off the week with an impressive replica of the Extreme Make-over house — we were blown away! Abbey Road Catering also provided an amazing spread of food to keep the crew going during those long hours and Café Evoke volunteered to provide a specialty coffee bar that was perfect for the chilly February weather! In just seven days and while fighting off extreme Oklahoma weather, an amazing team of volunteers pulled together to answer the prayers of this Oklahoma family in need! Cheers!

You've been waiting all week, and we've been dying to tell you about the winning couple of our second annual Looks of Love Contest! The two met seven years ago in high school band. Through all the ups and downs their relationship has endured and grown over the years. “Andrew always believed and lifted me up,” says Maria.

Andrew asked Maria to Homecoming in high school with a jar of goldfish crackers with a note inside saying, “Of all the fish in the sea, will you go to homecoming with me?” This is also the note he used to ask her to marry him!! After four years of dating JP proposed marriage on New Years Eve. He took Ann to his family's ranch in Stroud where they made dinner with a Dutch oven and a grill without electricity. Jordan  and Trey were introduced through mutual friends during their freshman year in college. They dated off and on for two years while they lived across the street from one another—Jordan was in the Kappa house and Trey in Sigma Phi Epsilon.  After countless date parties, they fell in love during the fall of their junior year. Rachel was living in a duplex when her new neighbor, Lance, moved in next door. The two shared a chain link fence and soon noticed that their dogs, having become fond of one another, were sharing toys through the fence! During a spontaneous road trip from Stillwater to Washington D.C. for the presidential inauguration last year, Erin and Brian spent three straight days in a car talking and getting to know one another. So...some of you may know that Alli Vaughan, our magazine editor, joined our team full time back in April but we've yet do a formal introduction via the blog! Alli is definitely staying busy with the editing of both Brides of Oklahoma and Brides of North Texas magazines but she's also taken on the role of "keeper of all things brides." In all seriousness, her official title is "Editor and Bride Editorial Director." Carri Perrier joined our team today and we are beyond excited! Carri's official title is "Sales and Production Executive." She'll also wear a variety of other hats as she assists with photo shoots, coordinates Web profile content and we're certain she'll be a blogger extraordinaire!

We were excited to receive some pictures from The French Tulip’s new location grand opening last month! Their new space is absolutely perfect! We had such a great time at this event — delicious food and drinks and just good company! The Brides of Oklahoma is thrilled to announce its Looks of Love winner!  So many entered the contest and shared their love story with us!  We were inspired by all of the entries and can't wait to share so many of them with all of you on our blog over the next couple of weeks!  The images and story that captured our hearts was that of Gabby Garrison, a kindergarten schoolteacher.  She wasn't looking for love when she met her fiance, a firefighter, who just happened to stop in her classroom to speak to her kindergarten class about fire safety.  Gabby said that he "instantly got my attention....He talked to my kids so sweet and on their level.  He was so good."  Gabby had also captured his attention and before leaving the classroom, he pulled Gabby aside and asked her on a date.  Brave move?!  Perhaps, but Gabby said yes and the couple have been inseparable since!!  Gabby recalls a little girl in her class saying, "Ms. Garrison, I think that fireman loves you."  True love is recognizable by all!

Since fate brought these two together, life has been wonderful.  "We truly have fallen head over heels in love and when that happens and you look at that person, it's indescribable.  He makes me feel like a princess every day of my life and he has shown me that fairy tale, happy endings do still exist."  We couldn't agree more!  Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Just over one short year ago, Meg Guess Bridal Boutique opened in midtown in Oklahoma City. We were at the printer all day yesterday!  Here's a behind the scenes look inside the press check for The Brides of Oklahoma!  If you've ever wondered how it's made, here goes....  Over 32 tons of paper -- literally HUGE rolls (almost as tall as we are).

Loaded on a web press (that's a gigantic printer) and printed 1,000 feet a minute.  Then, heated to 250 degrees before cooled to room temperature through drums of water, folded and finished faster than you can read this blog post.

This $10M machine is about three stories tall -- a little different than your standard desktop ink jet -- and the whole process is truly amazing!  Motheral Printing's facility is pristine, by the way -- not a spec of dirt to be found anywhere.

We just wanted to give you a peek inside the process!  Now you know the real deal behind the making of a beautiful magazine!  The Brides of Oklahoma will be available January 1, 2009 -- we can't wait to get it into you hands!
