Vows that Wow — Emma & Carson

Wednesday, July 17th, 2024

Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Houston, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.

For July, we’re featuring a garden-themed wedding complete with shades of pink and pops of gold. Keep scrolling to see Emma and Carson’s April 20, 2024 wedding.

Keeping Tradition Alive

“My husband is Norwegian, so it is traditional to say a group Norwegian prayer at the rehearsal dinner,” writes the bride. “Carson led it and all of his extended family joined in. It was such a special part of our celebration to include a family tradition that dates back several centuries.”

The Wedding Day

Emma and Carson’s nuptials were the epitome of springtime romance, starting with Emma’s dress, which deviated from the typical all-white gown. Purchased at La Mariee Boutique, the dress featured light blue and blush pink florals against a white background. Emma’s bridesmaids also wore beautiful rose gold gowns from the same shop.

Decor and rentals from Party Pro Rents added to the posh, garden aesthetic while florals from Ever Something created a whimsical and romantic feel. “Taylor from Ever Something Florals blew us away with her attention to detail and customer service,” writes Emma. “She never made us feel like we were asking too much, even though we required a lot of help from her. In the end, our florals were what elevated our wedding day to something we couldn’t even have dreamed of.”

After an intimate first look and gorgeous ceremony, the couple celebrated with their closest family and friends, singing songs together and dancing the night away with music from RedLine Entertainment. The couple also shared a gorgeous cake from Sweet Devotion Cakery with their guests. Adorned with flowers to match the bride’s dress, it fit perfectly with the day’s theme.

Everything came together under the direction of Bee Balanced Events and was captured in a timeless film by Jordan Miears Photography + Films, LLC

Emma & Carson’s Favorite Moment

“We live in Nashville and are professional musicians, along with many of our friends. Carson arranged a group of our friends to play five live songs, which included our first dance, a community dance, and three upbeat songs to kick off the dance party. Later in the night, our friends impromptu played another one of our favorite songs called ‘All My Friends’ by LCD Soundsystem. The song is really long (eight minutes!) and has a ton of verses, so many of our wedding guests took turns sharing the mic and singing along. It was one of the most special moments of our lives to dance with our loved ones with music played by our friends.”

Vows that Wow — Laney & Reeves

Tuesday, June 18th, 2024

Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Oklahoma, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.

The Wedding Day

Laney and Reeves’s wedding took place on a gorgeous spring day. On April 21, 2024, the couple tied the knot at The Baumberhof surrounded by family and friends. The day began with Laney and her best gals getting ready, receiving glam makeovers from Claire Burns Makeup Artistry.

After she and the bridesmaids were beautified, Laney and Reeves shared an intimate moment through private vows — no photographer, no videographer, just the two of them! Their ceremony and reception spaces were filled with stunning florals by XO by Haleigh Kenney, and decor from Marianne’s Rentals and Mood Party Rentals set the mood for the evening.

Guests enjoyed cocktail hour and a delicious dinner catered by Harris Custom Catering before hitting the dance floor for a night of celebration! Thanks to Meg Rose Photography, Laney and Reeves have countless beautiful photos to look back on.

Laney & Reeves’s Favorite Moment

“We did our vows completely in private, no photographer or anything. It felt like time stopped as we recounted our relationship from the beginning and how much our love has grown! Taking communion together during the ceremony and praying for each other while our friends and family silently prayed over us was also extremely special.”

Vows that Wow — Macey & Nicholas

Wednesday, May 15th, 2024

Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Oklahoma, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.

This month’s Vows that Wow features a timeless, modern and whimsical garden party with pops of white, champagne, pink and green. Keep scrolling to discover all the details of Macey and Nicholas’s special day!

How the Couple Met

Macey and Nicholas first met in high school at a student council camp. At the time, they had no idea what the future held for their love story. Acquainted the summer before their senior year of high school, the two eventually drifted apart before heading off to college. Some time later, both attending Oklahoma State University, the pair reconnected at the President’s Leadership Council (PLC). As divine providence would have it, Macey’s parents also met at PLC!

Soon after, Macey brought Nicholas to her first college date party as a friend. Hitting it off, it wasn’t long before Nic asked Macey on a date. Incorporating that first date into their wedding day, Macey recalls that “the dance floor and napkins had the phrase ‘you’re a gem’ on them because those were the words Nic texted me after our first date.” The couple wed on October 15, 2023, incorporating countless details that pointed back to their love story.

The Wedding Day

The night before the big day, Macey and Nic’s loved ones enjoyed a stay in Tulsa’s Brut Hotel. The brutalist architecture makes this boutique hotel standout from the rest, giving guests a one-of-a-kind experience.

Come the day of, Macey spent the morning getting ready with her bridesmaids before slipping into her custom gown from Valentine Bridal. She adorned herself with accessories from the same shop to complete her look! “Sonni is a wedding dress designer whose skills are as technical as they are creative,” writes Macey. “She helped me dream up two different wedding day looks with the same dress and made all my bridal wedding day dreams come true.”

After an intimate first look, Macey and Nic said “I do” during a heartfelt ceremony. “I remember holding hands with mom walking down the aisle and making eye contact with Nic and smiling with pure joy and tears in my eyes,” the bride recalls. “It was so special walking past our family and friends who have been our greatest support system in every season of life as we stepped into a new one.”

Nic kissed his bride and the two stepped into their reception tent for the first time. Surprise and delight filled the couple as their vision was brought to life, thanks to decor and rentals from Marianne’s Rentals and Party Pro Rents.

The rest of the evening was spent mingling, eating and dancing! The reception had no shortage of personal details that shared the milestones of Macey and Nic’s relationship. “From the lanterns over the dance floor to the food served to every guest, we wanted every detail to feel like ‘us’ as a couple and tell our love story,” writes the bride.

The entire day was captured by Lauren Rader Photography. “Lauren captured every moment of our wedding day with detail and intentionality. She captured the emotion and overall feel of our wedding day in such an authentic way through every photo. I will cherish these photos for the rest of my life,” says Macey.

Thanks to NB Productions, Macey and Nic also have a beautiful wedding video to reminisce on. “Noah captured our special day through video in a true documentary style that makes us feel like we are able to relive this day over and over again,” says Macey. “We are so thankful for his attention to detail and the moments that mean the most to us.”

After all was said and done, the couple retreated to The Mayo Hotel, where they enjoyed some much needed rest and alone time in a luxurious and historic setting.

Macey & Nicholas’s Favorite Moment

“One of my favorite moments would have to be our first look. Nic and I are both huge extroverts and love being surrounded by our people; however, this moment was one that was just us, which was really special. We wrote each other personal vows that we read to each other. We laughed, cried and hugged one another with pure joy, knowing that we were about to step into a lifetime together that we prayed for for so long.”

How the Couple Met

Before they started dating, Lauren and TJ met at the gym. “We played it cool at first, just saying hi and interacting only a little bit,” writes the bride. A few weeks later, the two went out with a group of friends and have been attached at the hip ever since!

From that day forward, the couple has spent countless hours in each other’s presence. “We can’t think of a day that we didn’t spend together after the first night we went out,” Lauren writes. On February 3, 2024, the couple tied the knot, looking forward to an eternity together.

The Wedding Day

Before the festivities of their big day, Lauren and TJ hosted a rehearsal dinner at their venue, Aspen Ranch, and spent the night there as well. “Our bridesmaids and groomsmen stayed on-site in the Aspen Manor, so the night before felt like a giant sleepover with our best friends,” writes the bride. “Aspen Ranch as a whole is incredible. The property is stunning, and the level of luxury is unparalleled.” The event came together beautifully thanks to Bailey Kubicek, who made sure every detail was pure perfection.

With the arrival of the wedding day came getting ready. Plenty of champagne, vow-practicing and hand-holding marked the morning. The couple was dressed to the nines with Lauren in her stunning bridal gown and TJ rocking a suit from William & Lauren Custom Clothier.

Oklahannah Plays Harp accompanied the couple’s ceremony, where not a dry eye was found. After an emotional ceremony, the couple and their loved ones headed to the reception. Thanks to decor from Mood Party Rentals, floral arrangements from XO by Haleigh Kenney and signage from Eros Studios, the space exuded a timeless elegance.

After enjoying a delicious dinner from Kam’s Kookery and a cake made by Mishelle Handy Cakes, the party began. OKC Entertainment and Events brought the beats until it was time for Lauren and TJ’s grand exit.

Lauren & TJ’s Favorite Moment

“A favorite moment was when the kids were getting ready to walk down the aisle to see their dad. Voice recordings of each of them played over the loudspeaker for TJ to hear. The whole place was sobbing, it was so emotional.”

How the Couple Met

These high school sweethearts met through a fun, sporty and energetic friend group. While still in their teens, the two remained friends with similar interests and values. It wasn’t until college that sparks began to fly.

Tress and Jonathan found themselves in the same class during her freshman year and his sophomore year. “Let’s just say our relationship started one day when he texted me out of the blue to ask about a ‘homework assignment’ for the class,” writes the bride.

From then on, the two have been inseparable. On July 15, 2023, they said yes to forever with each other.

The Wedding Day

The day began with Tress and her bridesmaids getting dolled up by the experts at K Shelton Beauty and enjoying a lunch from the catering team at Vinterra Event Venue. After soaking up precious time with her best gals, Tress made her way down the aisle at the modern Vinterra

The Brava Quartette at Box Talent provided beautiful string melodies throughout the ceremony. “Our ceremony was orchestrated beautifully with worship, the sound of strings playing and every chair filled with the people we love the most,” writes the bride.

Following the ceremony, Tress and Jonathan’s guests enjoyed a fun cocktail hour full of coffee, appetizers, games, drawings and photos. Then, guests flooded into a space decked out with decor and rentals from Marianne’s Rentals  and Party Pro Rents

“The reception followed in the blink of an eye after the incredible team of vendors performed a highly detailed room flip,” writes Tress. “Our aisle transformed into the best dance floor we could have hoped for.”

Along with dinner and dancing, the couple cut into their towering six-tier cake, frosted in classic white by Amy Cakes. Thanks to Embellished Weddings, the day went off without a hitch. “Abbey McDaniel was my absolute favorite go-to girl,” writes the bride. “She made everything completely seamless and did everything she possibly could to make sure I was taken care of in every way.”

Tress & Jonathan’s Favorite Moment

“After a fun night of dancing and confetti falling on the dance floor, my new husband and I enjoyed our last private dance—a moment that happens to be one of my favorite memories of the night. As we danced to our song, we looked around, taking in all the beauty in the room, and had the most special moment, just the two of us.”

How the Couple Met

While still in college at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Natalie and Avi became close friends. Their friendship remained platonic for their first three years in school, with the two acting as wingman and wingwoman for each other. By the time senior year rolled around, they lived in apartments across from each other and began spending more time together.

As the months went by, the couple realized they had fallen for each other. “With only a few months until graduation, we decided to commit to long distance for a couple years and try to make it work,” writes the bride. After graduating, Natalie headed to New York for work and Avi stayed in Los Angeles. Seven years later, the two were engaged. It’s safe to say that long distance worked for these lovebirds who tied the knot on September 10, 2023.

Natalie & Avi’s Wedding Day

Before their big day, Natalie and Avi shared rehearsal dinner with friends and family at The Patriot Golf Club, enjoying the view of green, rolling hills. The next day, as the couple shared vows and said “I do,” at the iconic Philbrook Museum located in the heart of Tulsa they were surrounded by classic white and green florals provided by Ever Something

“Taylor helped execute our vision with multiple events throughout the weekend,” said the bride. “She was so patient as I went back and forth so many times on colors and vibe and vision — and the team’s execution the day of was perfect.”

Along with stunning floral arrangements at their ceremony, Natalie and Avi enjoyed a beautiful reception made possible by the decor and rentals provided by Party Pro Rents. Everything came together under the direction of Sarah Davis from Bee Balanced Events

“Sarah was the anchor that kept us grounded and calm in the lead up to and the day of the event,” writes Natalie. “I am so grateful for her guidance throughout — none of this could have happened without her!”

Kristen Edwards Photography captured Natalies and Avi’s special day, giving them photos to look back on for years to come. Jordan Miears Photography + Films, LLC also created a video for the couple, letting them experience the beauty and joy of their wedding over and over.

Natalie & Avi’s Favorite Detail

“One favorite memory of mine was walking down the aisle. … When it was our turn to walk down, and we turned the corner, I saw a sea of people — all of whom I felt such a deep sense of love and care for. I immediately started crying — heaving, loud cries, in fact — overwhelmed by the wonderful emotions. To see your life’s friendships and dear family in front of you as you walk to the love of your life, was truly the most special thing.”

Vows that Wow — McKenna & Kyler

Tuesday, January 16th, 2024

Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Oklahoma, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.

For January, we’re featuring a garden party themed wedding with plenty of pastel colors and vintage touches throughout. McKenna and Kyler said “I do” in dreamy surroundings on September 2, 2023.

How the Couple Met

McKenna and Kyler met as students at Northern Oklahoma College Enid. Both student athletes, the two crossed paths a number of times. Although McKenna was dating someone else when they met, Kyler took interest.

“One night our freshman year he tweeted, ‘you ken help me.’ My instagram handle is @kennahelpu,” writes the bride. “I never liked the tweet or anything because I had a boyfriend at the time, but deep down I thought it was very clever and brave of him to do that.”

Even after no response, Kyler was persistent in his pursuit of McKenna. After breaking up with her boyfriend, she and Kyler began spending more time together. From best friends to boyfriend and girlfriend, the two dated for five and a half years before tying the knot!

The Wedding Day

The day began with McKenna and her bridesmaids getting dolled up with makeup by Claire Burns Makeup Artistry and hairstyles created by Addie Artistry. After the couple gussied up in their respective suites, the two shared a first look before the day’s main event.

Both the ceremony and reception took place at The Range Wedding + Event Venue, adorned with stunning florals by Ribbon & Blooms Floristry and decor from Borrowed Charm. After taking pictures and exchanging vows in a beautiful, waterfront setting, the couple celebrated with their friends and family.

At the reception, Harris Custom Catering provided an exquisite meal while OKC Entertainment and Events brought the party. The couple busted a few moves while sporting baseball caps on the dance floor.

It all came together with the help of the folks at Borrowed Charm. As McKenna writes, “Our wedding day was so dreamy. I loved all the details and colors that we incorporated into our day. It was so fun to see our vision come to life!”

McKenna & Kyler’s Favorite Detail

“My favorite moments were getting ready with the girls, doing our first look together, and dancing the night away with all of our favorite people. It was such a special day that I will always remember and cherish.”

Vows that Wow — Austin & Tyle

Thursday, December 14th, 2023

Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Oklahoma, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.

A disco-inspired garden party with a warm desert color palette makes for a fun, stylish and unique wedding. Read on to discover more of our December Vows that Wow couple, Austin and Tyle’s special day!

How the Couple Met

Tyle and Austin’s love story came about when each of them least expected it. In 2013, the 20-year-old men had big aspirations for themselves. Tyle dreamt of professionally entering the world of theatre while Austin was determined to become the next Anna Wintour. Tyle had no time for romance and Austin wasn’t looking for an Oklahoma boy to tie him down.

Over the summer, however, the two made plans thinking their relationship would be a summer fling at best. Their first date consisted of cheap margaritas and movie snacks while watching Scream.

“Neither of us had any clue how that one night would change our lives forever,” writes Austin.

Through big moves, bad days, mundane moments and everything in between, Austin and Tyle realized how much they needed each other. The two said yes to forever on September 22, 2023.

The Wedding Day

Austin and Tyle’s wedding weekend began at the Fordson Hotel, where the couple and their guests stayed in style, enjoying all downtown Oklahoma City has to offer. The festivities continued on the couple’s wedding day, held at The Baumberhof. The room’s tall ceilings and glass cupola gave the ceremony an open and fresh feel with plenty of natural light.

At their reception, Austin and Tyle created a space unique to them thanks to decor and rentals from Borrowed Charm, Eventures and Marianne’s Rentals. Complete with disco balls, colorful banners, a unique dance floor and more, this wedding had “Austin and Tyle” written all over it.

“We wasted no time hitting the dance floor — our song is an upbeat one, so instead of the traditional first dance we invited our guests to join us for a group dance to get the night started,” Austin wrote. “We wanted our day to feel like a celebration of not only our love, but all of the people who have loved us along the way.”

None of it would have been possible without help from their wedding planner. “We’re so thankful that the Baumberhof required a planner because we were bold enough to think that we could pull off a wedding on our own when we first started everything,” writes Austin. “We found not only a boss, but an amazing friend in Savannah Shades from Savy Social Co. We can’t sing her praises enough!”

With photos from Kelsey Justice and Lauren Rader Photography as a secondary photographer, Tyle and Austin have beautiful pictures that they will cherish for a lifetime.

Austin & Tyle’s Favorite Detail

“We have so many little ‘favorites’ from the day, but our private dance at the end of the night is one that really stands out. It wasn’t something that was high on our priority list — we wanted to be with our guests! — so neither of us were prepared for the impact it ended up having. The last moments before our day was gone were spent with just us alone in the space that we had been obsessing over for more than a year, taking in all of the love in the air one more time.”
