Kelcy’s ethereal blue gown was complemented by a unique bouquet of bright greenery, wild flowers and cool eucalyptus by Forth and Floral, perfectly emulating the airy desert vibe of the mountains. We’re continuing our Oklahoma Cake Artist Spotlight Series featuring with none other than Mishelle Handy of Mishelle Handy Cakes! We’ve had the pleasure of working with Mishelle for the last 10 years and we are continuously amazed by her beautiful designs. Thanks to Ely Fair Photography for photographing her beautiful design at Waters Edge Winery. Stay tuned as we continue to share more incredible Oklahoma cake artists!

About the Design
This cake is a contemporary formal design with hints of classic. It has gold brushed accents with hand cut and painted pieces and is topped with whimsical coral peonies. The top layer has slender leaves striped in high sheen gold. The second layer is broken white chocolate pieces brushed in edible matte gold. The third layer is made from several different fondant elements put together to create the oval frame. Then lightly touched and accented with the same gold finish.

About the Artist
My name is Mishelle and I have loved designing wedding cakes for the past 16 years. I work one on one with my brides and together we share ideas and create your vision of the cake. In designing, we can stay with the overall style of your wedding or embellish the cake with an aspect from your gown. Bring your ideas and we will create your confection to detail. I believe you must have quality on every level. I love the creative process of getting to know a couple and bring their personalities into the cake design, creating a fun memory along the way.

Words of Wisdom
Find a baker with experience, good credentials and design style that matches what you need. Love who you choose and then trust them to create your cake!
