This Kate Spade inspired shoot from Leslie Herring Events at Spain Ranch was absolutely incredible! Take an all white venue and add bold pops of color – that’s the type of design we love to see!  Anthousai Floral Design was the perfect choice for florals, and their dainty blooms adored the tablescape so beautifully. Prescott Bridal dressed our model, Lewis Jewelers graced her with gorgeous rings, and a huge thanks to the teams at Atherial Makeup and Skin Studio and Trichology Salon for making Lindsey look stunning.  Andrea Howard Cakes designed the sweetest little gold and black striped cake, and No Regrets provided perfectly paired paper complementing the theme of the shoot.  Blue Label Bartending was on the scene with colorful cocktails that were as delicious as they looked! (Trust us!) Mood Party Rentals is always our go-to for that trendy white on white vibe, and their lounge furniture was on point.  Complete with subtle touches of polka dots and gold, Atria Creative perfectly captured this stunning shoot on both photo and video – see below! Happy Monday!

This effortlessly beautiful shoot of The Wild Mother’s floral story entitled “Le Violettes” is absolutely darling. It features sweet flower girls as they play, dance and laugh together. The shoot was inspired by a blush, pale blue and purple palette that is romantic and timeless – perfect for spring weddings! Starring florals such as tweedia, amaryllis and of course, a variety of roses, alongside a bride and her sweet flower girls symbolizes love and admiration, transforming this shoot into more than floral inspiration. Floral narratives are what the women of  The Wild Mother are known for, and working with them is truly a creative experience. Working alongside this floral team, Chelsey Ann Artistry created the beauty looks, and the gown was provided by The Bridal Boutique. This incredible inspiration sure makes for a happy Wednesday – enjoy!

Oklahoma Cake Artist Spotlight Series – Ms. Laura’s Cakes

We’re so excited to continue our Oklahoma Cake Artist Spotlight Series featuring some of the most talented Oklahoma wedding cake artists! Ely Fair Photography captured the talent behind the beautiful designs at Waters Edge Winery we got to find out more about these amazing bakers and their unique designs. Today’s lovely cake baker is Laura Talbot of Ms. Laura’s Cakes. Her work continues to amaze us! Stay tuned as we continue to share more incredible Oklahoma wedding cake artists!

About the Design
This little lovely has a lot going on — textured water color, sugar and wafer paper flowers and some rustic wood planking.  All edible of course! This is kind of an English garden meets modern times. I used fondant, gum paste, wafter paper, sanding sugar and royal icing to achieve all of these textures. Nothing plain Jane about this cake. People are often surprised to learn that the “wood” planks are indeed made of sugar.  What I love most about this cake is the wood planking. It renders such a bold rustic look and can be done in a variety of colors to match any color scheme.

About the Artist
My little cake shop is what I like to call a bakery boutique. It’s quaint, and everything— from the shopping for ingredients to setting up the wedding cake at the reception— is done by me. Everything is custom made and though I do have various cupcakes and other treats available for drop-in service, I do not have cakes made up in advance. Those have to be special ordered. My product/cake is an extension of me and who I am. I want my clients to have what they want. When a bride wants something special, something that has been given thought and care and baked in the flavor and filling they love, then I’m the baker they are looking for.

Words of Wisdom
For brides who are looking for a baker, I strongly suggest doing your research.  There are many people who will say that they do cake and they will do it for cheap. However, be cautious. Check to see that the bakery is registered as a business with the state of Oklahoma. Ask to see a copy of their Health department license. Are they insured? Ask who will be  delivering your wedding cake. I get calls all the time of people who are literally frantic because they ordered their wedding cake with someone who just backed out on them because “something else” came up. I’ve even had people call and beg me to please “fix” the cake they just got from someone else and it looked like it came from cakewrecks. You get what you pay for. Good cake isn’t cheap and cheap cake isn’t good.
