There’s nothing we love more than sharing darling love stories and beautiful photography, and today we have both! Tara Lokey Photography perfectly captured the love between Paige and Jared in this outdoor, woodsy engagement shoot. Cuddled up lakeside and glowing in the evening sunlight, the adorable couple looks as stunning as the nature surrounding them.

Paige and Jared met through mutual friends in Oklahoma City. Months after meeting, they ran into each other by chance when they were working in the same hospital. Jared asked Paige to dinner after work, and they have been together ever since! Jared proposed while they were on a weekend trip in Dallas. The private and intimate moment was exactly what Paige had always imagined.

Paige and Jared will be married in April at Wesley United Methodist Church with a reception to follow at V2 Events at Vast. Paige can’t wait to marry the man of her dreams in the beautiful historic building. She’s planning a space full of bright spring florals with a sea glass and gold color scheme. Congrats to the happy couple!

We love a great surprise, and we can’t even imagine how fun it would be to surprise party guests with a wedding! On a beautiful spring day Rachael and John invited everyone to a party at Rachael’s aunt’s house – Rachael even wore a fun cocktail dress to throw the guests off! About 30 minutes into the party she snuck away to change into her wedding dress and with the help of wedding planner extraordinaire Emerson Events, the surprise ceremony went off without a hitch! Rachael was stunning as she walked down the aisle in her boho, lace gown from J.J. Kelly Bridal Salon, and guests enjoyed a delicious cake from Amy Cakes after the cake cutting (the only traditional part of the event!). Rentals from Marianne’s and  Ruby’s Vintage Rentals helped set the beautiful backyard scene, and Ely Fair Photography captured every festive detail. Cheers to this super fun couple!

Oklahoma Cake Artist Spotlight Series – The Round House Bakery

Our Oklahoma Cake Artist Spotlight Series continues with the lovely Kayla Peters of The Round House Bakery! Ely Fair Photography captured her beautiful design at Waters Edge Winery. Kayla’s tasty designs constantly have our mouths watering! Stay tuned as we continue to share more incredible Oklahoma wedding cake artists!

About the Design
I love that it combines both of my favorite styles of cake, painted and naked. I love all things floral and modern bohemian, and that it includes some of my favorite colors. Painting on soft buttercream vs fondant can be a bit of a challenge! I have to keep the icing cold in order to not damage the surface while painting.  I used completely natural colors all made from edible vegetable coloring and mixed that in with real vanilla buttercream on a naked cake to create a pallet that was both colorful but earthy and muted.

About the Artist
Everything I make is made from scratch and I spend a lot of time on the baking process to create the most flavorful pastries with realistic, non-artificial ingredients.  I love the quality and texture that using real butter, unbleached and organic ingredients add to my pastries without making them exactly “healthy” or fat free. I keep my design and decorating process minimal so they are classic and elegant for any event or party theme. I believe food brings people together and in my biased opinion, should be the life of the party.  You can’t go wrong having a food-focused reception; it keeps everyone entertained and sets the mood.

Words of Wisdom
I believe food brings people together and in my biased opinion, should be the life of the party.  You can’t go wrong having a food-focused reception, it keeps everyone entertained and sets the mood.  If family or friends are eager to contribute to the food or offer to bake your cake next to nothing, kindly ask them to, rather donate money to your food cost fund so you don’t take that stress and risk on someone you love and so they don’t miss a moment.  I totally understand couples who are budgeting, but it’s worth it to support a local businesses who will take care of one of the most important parts of your reception, professionally.

This gorgeous tablescape design by Forever Cole Events was created with the florally-inspired and simplistic beauty bride in mind. The industrial setting at Plenty Mercantile and the organic florals crafted by Forever Cole Events truly sets this design apart. The model bride wore a beautiful long-sleeve gown from BeLoved Bridal and jewelry from Lewis Jewelers. Profile Concierge Hair Services created her loose bun, and her striking makeup was done by Atherial Skin and Makeup Studio. The calligraphy pieces by Prairie Letter Shop added a unique flair to this organic tabletop. Andrea Howard Cakes designed the three-tiered cake complete with hand-painted floral elements and light pink and blue marbling. Mood Party Rentals provided the industrial rentals that completed this look. Hope Photography captured this darling day, and Stout Mulitimedia worked alongside her to capture some incredible behind the scenes footage (watch below!). Happy Tuesday!
