There’s a special place in my heart for this oh-so-pretty and preppy tabletop! The classic combo of navy with pops of pink paired with fun floral swag and beautiful bow details is as timeless as a southern bowtie! Makes me want to sip a sweet mint julep!

From the moment this picture crossed my desk, I was in love. The colors, the feel – it’s just so whimsy and romantic. It’s the perfect way to dress up your seat (throne) or drape down a table at the wedding. I would have it on my office chair if I could!

(Water)color me happy to see handpainting trends in weddings! Illustrated details and brushed lettering in everything from the invitations to the cake give such a ‘hand-made’ and personal quality to a wedding. As an artist myself, I really admire the artistry in these ‘picture’ perfect details!

I’m crazy about bouquets and centerpieces that feel as if I’ve just wandered through the garden and picked my favorite blooms. Leave structure to the gowns – it’s all about free form florals!

Finding that perfect getaway to leave the most memorable night of your life is very important. I don’t even think it has to be some fancy car (although THIS fancy car will do)! Maybe it’s the car he first picked you up in on your first date. Whatever that getaway mobile is…make it special and unique to you both as a couple.

For a girl who doesn’t like icing much, naked cakes are the perfect cake option! Not only can you see the yumminess underneath, but add florals or berries and they’re just as pretty as a fully-iced design.

This is hands down my favorite wedding of all time- it was literally a SURPRISE wedding! Not only is this an incredibly sweet couple, but the element of surprise was awesome and is so special! From the look on Sami’s face when Joe asked her to marry him – TODAY – to the lottery ticket favors, this wedding was truly made special by the families and details involved. Both Ely Fair and Pen Weddings captured this one of a kind day in the best way.

BC Clark’s Hidden Gem – Megan Thorne Fine Jewels

Oklahoma’s oldest jewelry retailer, BC Clark Jewelers, has stumbled upon quite the hidden gem in Megan Thorne, a Fort Worth-based jewelry designer with Oklahoma ties.

“Megan Thorne rings have an heirloom quality about them which resonates with today’s bride. Her designs are very feminine, and her use of recycled gold and rustic diamonds add a sustainability factor and unique appeal,” says Mitchell Clark.

BC Clark is the exclusive place to find her gorgeous work in Oklahoma, and we caught up with the young talent to see for ourselves just what BC Clark and its brides have been gushing about!

What sets your business apart (besides your beautiful jewelry)?
I believe strongly in the concept of ‘modern heirlooms,’ which is the idea that the ring you are creating now should be passed on to your loved ones later. I wear my own great-grandmother’s engagement ring and wedding band, and I can think of no higher honor than sharing in another family’s special moments. Thus, I am always mindful of distinctive, yet timeless design and quality craftsmanship so that a ring can be treasured for generations to come.

Why are you so passionate about recycling metals?
Honestly, because it is an option, so why in the world not?! I think that is one of the most amazing characteristics of precious metals: you can strip away the alloys used to create a piece of jewelry and return the metal to its pure state. It costs a little more, and your options are a bit limited, but I think it is so important to do what we can.

Why is it a priority for you to use ethically sourced stones?
I couldn’t authentically talk about passing down a ring to a daughter or grand-daughter and not be cognizant of the world we are leaving for her. Even small choices have amazing impact when combined with the collective efforts of the industry. The more consumers request ethically sourced stones and recycled metals, the more companies start pressuring the status quo.

What do you most want brides to know about your rings?
They’re made with joy. In the beginning, I made every single piece start to finish in my garage. Now that the company has grown a bit, I’m not able to be involved in every facet of the process, but I insist that I’m able to touch every piece before it leaves our studio. I love what I do and am the luckiest person ever to be a tiny part of a couple’s special moment. I hope the joy and fulfillment I receive as the maker is felt by the one who wears our work.

Your rings are so special and unique—what’s your secret?
I actually prefer smaller diamonds! People can be so concerned with size, but I go for a small center diamond so that you can do really cool metal work around it. I’m not a door-knocker diamond type of girl.

What drew you to BC Clark Jewelers as the exclusive retailer of your jewelry in OK?
I’m from Texas, but I actually studied apparel design at Oklahoma State University! It was there that I took my first metalsmithing class as an elective—just for fun. Working with BC Clark feels like a full-circle moment for me, a true homecoming! Such a prestigious store with a shared love of family and community. The BC Clark staff truly understands the collection and can guide brides through the sometimes daunting journey of design, customization and diamond education.

Lauren and Rich’s glam country club wedding features just about everything we love – a luxe color palette, over-the-top florals and whimsical details just to name a few! Over a romantic dinner one evening Rich proposed with a gorgeous sparkler from Lewis Jewelers. The wedding planning began shortly after with the help of planner extraordinaire Judy Lehmbeck, and the lovely invites from No Regrets were sent to over 300 family and friends. When the big day arrived in late summer, the sweet couple exchanged rings from BC Clark Jewelers and headed to their reception which was nothing short of stunning! The ballroom looked like a summer garden party with florals from Trochta’s and rentals from Marianne’s and Mood Party Rentals. The blushing bride was radiant with hair and makeup by Malorie Avaline – Beauty Unveiled and her maids were picture perfect in gowns from Prim. Brown Egg Bakery crafted a delicious wedding cake, and guests were treated to late night Taco Bell before the couple said goodnight – how fun! Thanks to Josh McCullock for capturing every lovely detail, and cheers to Lauren and Rich! Where to even begin with this amazing shoot… We’ve been dying to start sharing shoots from our Local in Bloom editorial  for weeks! Our team is  beyond blown away by the floral talent from the sisters that make up The Wild Mother and their vignettes that were shot at the grandiose 81 Ranch and captured by Peyton Rainey Photography. We love the intricate details of this venue so much, that we wanted to highlight the architectural features that make 81 Ranch so special including their sweeping staircase, gorgeous grand entryways and their one-of-a-kind bar. With old school tunes serenading the sisters, they went to work in creating these blooming scenes, and they certainly took it to the next level. Their vision of vintage cinema grandeur and interactive scenes are not only dreamy, but also inspiring. Round House Bakery provided the sugared fruits and cake that truly completed the scene. Prepare yourselves – these scenes might be in your dreams for weeks to come. Enjoy!
