Britton Scott and Kale Murphree’s Beautiful Backyard Wedding Captured by Sarah Libby Photography
Britton and Kale met when they were growing up. Their families knew each other for years and they often were around each other, but it wasn’t until Britton was in college that Kale contacted her. They began dating long distance, and four years later, Kale was ready to propose. Britton’s twin sister invited her to an afternoon matinee, and she thought it was unusual that they were the only ones in the theater. The previews began, and Britton began to see familiar faces and soon realized it was their love story on the big screen, all the way up until the moment he asked her parents for her hand in marriage. Kale came down the aisle, got down on one knee, and asked Britton to be his wife. She of course said yes, and they then had a huge party with their family!
On May 21, 2016, Britton and Kale were married at First Baptist Church in Duncan. Britton looked stunning as she walked down the aisle in a fit and flare gown designed by Tara Keely, and her bridesmaids complemented her look by wearing full-length light pink dresses with a halter neckline and a soft A-line silhouette designed by Donna Morgan. Both the bride and bridesmaids carried bouquets of peonies, garden roses and sweet pea flowers, with the bride’s bouquet also having additional light-colored flowers and greenery.
After a gorgeous ceremony, the backyard reception was beautifully decorated with sentimental details, including chandeliers, white sheer draping, lanterns hanging from the trees, draped bistro lighting and floral arrangements scattered throughout. The bride incorporated many traditions into her wedding, such as transforming a tree in the yard into a family tree where old family wedding photos hung in the branches showing a legacy of love.
One of Britton and Kale’s favorite moments from their big day was at the end of the reception when the couple was able to have a special dance with just the two of them while their guests prepared for their exit. It was a special time for them and they were able to reflect on their wonderful day.
Britton and Kale traveled to the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon, and they are now enjoying married life at their home in Duncan.
