Callie and Matthew met in college at the University of Oklahoma. They lost touch over the years, but that wasn’t going to stop fate from bringing them together. A few years after college, they were both on the sidelines at an OU-Texas Tech University football game. After taking pictures with each other during the game and throwing a football around at halftime, the pair became inseparable.
On a sleeting December night, Matthew was on his way to pick Callie up for dinner from her parents’ house – or so she thought. When he arrived, she looked out the window to see a horse-drawn carriage with Matthew inside. They spent the magical evening curled up in blankets while enjoying Christmas lights. Matthew proposed later that night at Callie’s house with candles, rose petals and flowers sprinkled throughout the home.
Inspiration for their wedding came from Matthew’s proposal. Candles and Christmas lights were a necessity as they created the perfect wedding to fit their styles and personalities. When their wedding day finally arrived, it was even more perfect than the couple had imagined. Their ceremony was held at Christ the King Catholic Church; the church’s beautiful architecture and lovely white walls made for an incredibly romantic setting.
The reception, held at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, was filled with memorable moments. Both having a love for wedding cake, they decided to go with the classic white cake with three different types of filling. After they cut the cake, Callie and Matthew took their first dance as husband and wife to Ray LaMontagne’s “You Are the Best Thing.”
Once the reception came to a close, the newlyweds hopped in the back of a Mercedes to depart for Napa Valley and Half Moon Bay, California. Callie and Matthew currently reside in Oklahoma City and are enjoying their new life together.
