Maree’ had always dreamed of marrying a southern gentleman; luckily Tennessee-born musician Steve Lunsford was just the man she’d been hoping for. The two met during a concert, and the rest, as they say, is history.
The couple met when Maree’s family was in the process of rebuilding The McGranahan Barn, which has been in Maree’s family for six generations and housed many celebrations thrown by her ancestors. The couple spent countless hours on the property as the building of The Barn, and their relationship, progressed. In the spring of 2013, Steve’s parents came in town from Tennessee under the guise of a routine family visit. Dinner with both sets of parents was scheduled at The Barn, and though Maree’ was hoping for a proposal, she convinced herself it wasn’t going to happen yet. Much to her surprise, Steve got down on one knee outside the The Barn while the excited families watched from inside. Maree’ was delighted to share in the excitement of the proposal with those she loved!
When it came to wedding planning, there was never a doubt that the couple would wed in their beloved McGranahan Barn. Her hair and make-up would be done by the talented Natasha Shipley Artistry, Mishelle Handy would make the jaw-dropping cake, the fabulous Tony Foss and his team would create the elaborate floral design, Ruby’s Vintage Rentals would provide the darling couches for lounging, Amy Ray Events would handle the coordinating, Abbey Rd. Catering would provide the scrumptious dinner, and the talented Sheradee Hurst Photography, along with Leslee Leaming Films, would capture it all for the happy couple.
Maree’ and Steve’s day was a perfect blend of a storybook wedding and a true family affair, from the sparkly details fit for a princess, to the bride’s recorded message to her parents playing as she walked down the aisle. One of the couple’s favorite details was the anniversary bottle table where guests left messages for the couple in bottles that were carefully chosen from special events throughout Maree’ and Steve’s relationship. On special anniversaries, the couple will get to uncork and read all the messages left by their family and friends, reminding them of the love and excitement shared on this special day.
