Elegant Tulsa Ballroom Wedding | Kelly + Joseph

Great minds think alike! Kelly and Jody met at a mutual friend’s engagement party while they were law students in July 2011. The pair never would have guessed they’d be celebrating their own engagement just a year later. Jody surprised Kelly by taking her to the Chihuly Glass sculpture exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum, followed with a celebratory family dinner under the bright Texas stars after he proposed and she excitedly accepted.

The couple was showered with love and many pre-wedding festivities. Among the celebrations, a Valentine-themed reception, a garden-themed luncheon and an outdoor-themed box dinner all helped the couple’s family and friends celebrate their upcoming nuptials. The bridesmaids’ luncheon was hosted by the bride’s mother at the couple’s home. The rehearsal dinner was a fun and festive fiesta night at Dilly Deli in Tulsa.

Finally the big day arrived! Kelly Marie Badaracco married Joseph Vernard Allen on September 1, 2013, in the Grand Hall of The Mayo Hotel. Charlie Ridenour, a lifelong friend, officiated the ceremony. Christina Leigh Events helped keep the day running smoothly and stress-free as the day-of planner. During the ceremony, Jody’s brother, Will Allen, sang.

The beautiful bride was escorted down the aisle to the man of her dreams by her father, Brian Badaracco, in a white, mermaid-style Claire Pettibone gown. The gown was made of hand-beaded Chantilly lace with a sweetheart neckline, and the back was intricate sheer lace. Kelly wore a cathedral-length veil with beaded Chantilly lace around the edge. To add some sparkle, the bride donned vintage drop earrings and a single diamond bangle bracelet, all her grandmother’s. A vintage-inspired floral brooch was added as a hairpiece. Peonies, ranunculi, seeded eucalyptus and gomphrena made up the bridal bouquet, which was wrapped in an antique white ribbon.

Maid of honor duties were shared between Rebecca Bowden and Maddy Edwards. Kathleen Hughes, Tanee Laird and Mary Beth Allen served as bridesmaids. All the women wore matching floor-length grey dresses. Ben Denton was Jody’s best man and Fletcher Dugan, John Nabozeny, Matt Brown, Koby Harrington and Tom Hoopes served as groomsmen. The men wore grey suits with black ties and black vests. The groom wore a black tuxedo, black bow tie and white pocket square.
The reception was held in the Crystal Ballroom in The Mayo Hotel and was hosted by the couple, their parents, Brian and Susan Badaracco and Samuel and Janice Allen, and Kelly’s grandparents, Edward and Doris Crowe. The grey color scheme and classic look of the wedding was reflected in the decorations in the ballroom. The bride’s table was covered in a greenery garland with cream roses, gold floating candles in glass vases, candles in mercury glass vases and votive candles.

Tall centerpieces in slender gold vases rested on the tables with white hydrangeas, cream roses, white stock, white wax flowers and greenery spilling out of the top. Ivory floating candles in glass vases with mercury glass votive cups and hydrangea blooms dotted the tables. Custom-made grey silk linens covered the tables and perfectly complemented the custom-made white silk flowers on the back of each chair. The chair back decorations matched the white floral napkin holders that were fastened around grey napkins.

The wedding cake was a four-tier white cake decorated with grey ribbons and delicate frosting dots. A coffee bean and loose leaf tea bar let the guests choose their parting gift. Kelly and Jody took their first dance as man and wife to “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Eva Cassidy. Banks Entertainment kept the dance floor hoppin’ the rest of the party. One of Kelly’s most memorable moments of the day was at the very end of the evening when Jody scooped her up off the dance floor and spun her around during the last song of the night. It was the perfect ending to the perfect day!

On their way to the car, the couple was led through a tunnel of guests waving tiny white streamers. After retreating from the reception, the couple took their honeymoon to Kauai, Hawaii. The couple currently resides in Tulsa, where Kelly works as an assistant district attorney and Jody is an attorney.
