A White House Wedding

A truly presidential occasion, this past Saturday, May 10, 2008, Jenna Bush, daughter of President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush, wed Henry Hager.  Surprisingly, this White House wedding was kept a secret from the press, as those directly involved with the planning used aliases to coordinate all of the details.  The sunset ceremony took place among some 200 guests overlooking a lake on the ranch owned by the family in Crawford, Texas. Jenna wore an Oscar de la Renta white gown with her hair softly pulled back with white flowers.  She shared her first dance with her father to the Joe Cocker ballad, You Are So Beautiful, before the tunes of the Tyrone Smith Revue, a 10-piece party band from Nashville, began to entertain guests.  The 14 bridesmaids wore blue chiffon dresses designed by Lela Rose.  The town sold out of Jenna and Henry’s wedding souvenir – a coffee cup with a photo of the couple like those shown above.  The President shared his sentiments with the press stating, “The wedding was spectacular, all we could have hoped for.”  For a short video on the wedding, click here.
