lexifaught_beautyspotlight_blog

Beauty insight for the big day is on every bride’s mind, so we sat down with local hair and makeup artist Lexi Faught to bring you the 411 on the latest bridal beauty tips and trends!

What are the advantages of doing a make-up trial run before the big day?
Doing a trial before your big day is so beneficial! It gives us a chance to meet, connect and talk about details in person while perfecting your wedding day look! Everyone has specific preferences when it comes to makeup, and being able to voice those preferences and tweak the makeup to fit your personal style makes the day of your wedding flow smoothly!

What advice do you have for a bride trying to find the right look for her day?
I love when brides bring me inspiration pictures of different looks. Search Pinterest, Instagram, Brides of Oklahoma and find what you love! During the trial, we can try multiple looks to see what complements you best!

What beauty product should every bride have with her at all times?
A great lipstick that you know is flattering to your skin tone is always important to have handy. Whether it’s a stain or a gloss, lips are usually the part of the face that needs to be touched up the most!

What beauty trends do you predict for the fall?
The overly-structured brow and heavy contour is on the way out! A well groomed brow will always be in style, but softer, more natural looking brows are in for fall. Heavy contouring is on the way out as well. I think fresh faced, dewy-skinned looks with warm tones will be on trend!

What’s your favorite shade of lipstick?
One of my favorites for a wedding day look is Plum from MAC. It’s very natural looking while still giving your lips enough color to photograph well. I also absolutely love Rebel from MAC. It is definitely an edgier color and would be better for a night out, but it’s a gorgeous purple-based pink that looks great on multiple skin tones.

Do you recommend false lashes?
I am a huge false lash fan! Even if you want your wedding day look to be very natural, I think false lashes are a must. There are many different styles of false lash ranging from subtle to super dramatic that will enhance your look more than any other makeup product can. They always photograph beautifully and give you that extra pop of glam!

How can a bride keep her make-up looking fresh and flawless throughout her big day?
A great setting spray will always help your look last! I like Urban Decay’s All Nighter setting spray as well as MAC’s Prep and Prime Fix Plus spray. If you tend to get oily, touching up with a translucent powder can keep your skin looking fresh! Touching up those lips is a must as well!

Any other helpful beauty tips for brides-to-be?
When you are being professionally photographed, you will need more makeup than you would wear for an every day look. You will look like you are wearing less in pictures than you actually are. Trust that your stylist knows the balance between making you look great in photographs and in real life! Also, if you are on the fence about getting clip in extensions or even permanent extensions to enhance your wedding day look, go for it!!! Adding that extra fullness or length is something my brides always end up loving!
