Proposed with an Empty Box
He proposed with an empty box! It was the middle of winter and we were freezing our noses off while looking at Christmas lights, I had no idea what was coming. He asked me to help him take his glove off and as he got down on one knee, I asked if I should take mine off too? When he said no, I was confused to say the least! As he shared his reasoning for proposing that night, he told me that he wanted to originally propose somewhere exotic, however, he changed his mind because he wanted to propose somewhere we could take our future children together to every year to share with them the story of where we took the first steps of spending our lives together. He hadn’t expected us to go see the lights so soon, so my ring wasn’t ready yet, but he couldn’t wait to ask me to spend the rest of our lives together. It was cold, I looked not so pretty with the sniffles, and I didn’t have a ring to show – but in the middle of the park with just ourselves, some Christmas lights, and the stars – I was granted my Christmas wish of spending the rest of my life with my best friend. While we recently said “I do” on January 4th, we are still very much in the honeymoon stage! Sometimes, if you’re lucky, life gives you a fairytale and our love for each other shows that there really is magic in this world and that there truly is nothing else like being in love with your best friend!
