A Look at the Designs & Expertise of The Carter Collective

The Carter Collective is an extension of a passion from Oklahoma wedding photographer Bobbye Jean Carter. Wanting to utilize her passion for design and planning in addition to stunning, timeless photography, Bobbye embarked on the journey of The Carter Collective in order to provide Oklahoma brides with a one-stop-shop and truly stress-free wedding planning. Classic and custom sums up Bobbye’s style; she works with each couple tirelessly to develop an aesthetic and atmosphere for their wedding that captures the best parts of their personalities flawlessly. “My style is timeless yet punchy and the aesthetic for each client is fluid based on their personal story,” Bobbye explains. “As a wedding photographer first it’s always in my mind as a planner for my clients to create hanging works of art of their wedding images. My goal is for the images to be timeless and live forever within their lifestyle – this starts with the planning.”

Take a look below at some of Bobbye’s work, both in a curated styled shoot and at a real wedding! We hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as we have!

A Favorite Styled Shoot

“I absolutely loved planning and designing our wanderlust fiesta shoot. I always lean toward bright colors, and on this project I had free rein of floral choices. I loved incorporating succulents and kale into the design. My favorite detail is the hat. I know that sounds a little silly, but I just felt the absolute need for a Charlie 1 Horse Hat — it just had that southwest glam vibe,” Bobbye says.

Styled shoots like this one often show off the best of the best when it comes to details and styling, but Bobbye realizes limited budgets are a factor for many brides. “Before you ever hire a single vendor, sit down with your partner, mom and dad or whoever is helping you and set a true budget. Never, and I mean never, go into debt for the wedding. Your marriage is more important than the wedding, and I want you to start out without the stress of wedding debt. If you have a great planner and a detail-oriented photographer, you too can have a Pinterest-worthy wedding on a tight budget.”

That said, she really values honoring the couple’s wishes and not pushing them too far out of their comfort zone. “I value the small and intimate wedding and will never talk a bride into going bigger,” she says. We can totally respect that!

“Bethany and Clark had such a fun and vibrant color palette. My favorite detail was creating an over-the-top cake table. She wanted lots of flowers to take spotlight, so a simple white and blush color palette to keep it clean let the rich florals shine. I also loved the idea of using smaller desserts to create a cake like structure. There are cupcakes, macaroons and cake pops at the very top mixed together with the flowers,” Bobbye explains.

If you can’t tell, The Carter Collective is an Oklahoma go-to for dreamy celebrations, planned with you in mind from start to finish. To get in touch with Bobbye, reach out via her Brides of Oklahoma vendor profile!
