Alex Butts and Michael Brady’s Festive December Destination Wedding
Alex and Michael began their journey as high school sweethearts at Heritage Hall in Oklahoma City. After high school, Alex attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, and Michael went to the University of Oklahoma. Amid many fraternity date parties and sorority formals, the couple maintained their spark throughout college. After college, Alex moved back to Oklahoma to attend law school at the University of Oklahoma, and Michael started his career in oil and gas.
Alex and Michael’s journey to the altar began when Michael proposed two days before Christmas in 2015 at Mahogany Prime Steakhouse in downtown Oklahoma City. The two had a special private dinner together and were then joined by their families for a champagne toast and photos.
Alex and Michael’s destination wedding took place in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They were married in an evening ceremony on December 30, 2016 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Alex wore a Vera Wang gown and cathedral length veil. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour at La Posada de Santa Fe, followed by a seated dinner in an outdoor tent, covered with glimmering lights and floral chandeliers over the courtyard gardens.
After many toasts and cheers, the dancing began to Dave and the Wavetones. The party was later visited by special surprise guest, Conchita, the tequila donkey.
Alex and Michael made their grand exit in a vintage Mercedes-Benz, surrounded by a sparkler send off. They departed New Mexico for their beach honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Now, Alex and Michael live in their first home in Oklahoma City with their chocolate lab, Bogey. Alex is a lawyer at Durbin, Larimore and Bialick, and Michael is a law student at OU.
