Alex and Mike met at a conference in Orlando while they were in graduate school. Their programs were competing against each other, but they were able to hang out during the week. They stayed in touch and soon after, Mike visited Alex in South Carolina. They’ve been together ever since!

A few years later and before Mike had to go back to work in Toronto, he suggested an impromptu scavenger hunt throughout downtown Oklahoma City. At the end, in front of the Civic Center Music Hall was a note, two champagne glasses and a small bottle of Prosecco. Alex opened the note, looked over and Mike was on one knee asking her to marry him. She thought it was such a fun, special and perfect moment!

Alex wanted a romantic and classic yet whimsical wedding, so she chose The Mayo Hotel as the reception venue. The white walls and large slate drapes of the Mayo helped to round out the color scheme, which was blush, champagne and gold with slate accents. After her father put a sixpence in her shoe for good luck (a family tradition), Alex walked down the aisle in an ivory strapless trumpet gown by Monique Lhuillier. She carried an incredible bouquet of blush and pink peonies, white hydrangeas, and ivory and blush ranunculus by Anne Marie.

To add a special touch and to honor their grandparents, as none were able to join them, the couple used wedding photos from both sides and intermixed the families. At the end of the night, the band told Alex and Mike to enjoy one last dance alone to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” They relished in getting to enjoy one last moment together, just the two of them. They looked to see that everyone had stayed and was dancing as well. It was the perfect ending to the perfect day!

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and currently reside in Toronto, Ontario.
