Kathryn + Craig’s ballroom wedding is a classic elegant Oklahoma affair that we absolutely adore. Read on for more details of their big day:

It was one of those hot, sticky summer days in June when Kathryn and Craig first met in Norman. The two were spending a relaxing afternoon at a pool with friends when they first saw each other. Kathryn might have caught Craig’s attention that day, but when he first asked her out on a date, he did not get the answer he wanted. However, his charm and personality would persevere to win her over.

Fast forward a few months: the couple is in the Crescent City celebrating Mardi Gras with her family. The annual tradition for her family hails from the large celebration in New Orleans. Because Craig appreciates how her family is steeped in traditions such as this one, he chose to propose over the weekend at Commander’s Palace, which is the same restaurant where Kathryn’s father proposed to her mother 35 years ago. Needless to say, she eagerly said yes.

The pair quickly began planning their winter wedding. They decided on navy blue, gold and silver for their color scheme making it a formal occasion. Kathryn traveled to New York City with her matron and maid of honor to say “Yes to the Dress” at Kleinfeld Bridal. As soon as she put on her dress, she knew that it was the one. Friends and family threw multiple engagement parties and bridal showers for the couple. As the planning continued, the wedding list kept growing.

On January 24, 2015, Kathryn and Craig professed their vows at St. Joseph’s Old Cathedral in downtown Oklahoma City. The couple was blessed to have over 300 guests witness the announcement of their love when they both said, “I do.” The wedding reception was held at the Skirvin Hotel in the Grand Ballroom where friends and family danced the night away even celebrating by second lining, which is also a New Orleans tradition!
