This beautiful ballroom wedding at The Skirvin Hilton is simply stunning! We love the pops of red, from the florals to the invites, it’s all so gorgeous! Enjoy this lovely gallery, and check out Katie and Nathan’s story:
Katie Rose and Nathan Kain met through mutual friends. They lived in the same neighborhood and attended the same church. Unbeknownst to Katie, the love of her life was just around the corner. The pair bonded over the same faith and soon began dating. Their relationship was full of great memories and adventures, and Nathan started thinking that he wanted to make things permanent. He took Katie on a walk and had the perfect scenery set up for the perfect proposal. As they turned the corner, there were rose petals all over the grass, a table set up with a sign that read, “please say yes,” a Bible and a bucket of water. To complete the scene, Katie’s favorite song, “Can’t Help Falling in Love” was playing. The couple entered the beautiful setting; Nathan washed her feet, read a few scriptures and got on bended knee and proposed. Katie was overwhelmed with emotion and happily said, “Yes!”
The wedding weekend was packed with excitement. A rehearsal dinner was held at the History Center in Oklahoma City and Katie and her bridesmaids spent the night at The Skirvin Hilton the evening before the big day. The girls woke up and got ready for the celebration together. They wore custom pajamas as they enjoyed spending the day reminiscing before Katie took Nathan’s last name.
The two were married on February 1, 2014, at The Skirvin Hilton in downtown Oklahoma City. Her father, Kelly Rose, escorted Katie down the aisle. Katie wore a stunning blush pink gown featuring a sweetheart neckline and delicate beading. She accessorized her wedding look with a rose gold diamond necklace from her grandmother. She also wore her grandmother’s diamond earrings. Katie walked gracefully down the aisle holding a beautiful bouquet filled with a romantic and elegant mixture of red and cream flowers. Katie’s sister, Jenny, served as her matron of honor and her other sister, Isabella, served as her maid of honor. Accompanying them were six additional bridesmaids. They each wore a lovely knee-length, mint dress paired with sassy red pumps. They also carried bouquets similar to the bride’s with lush red flowers. The flower girls and ring bearers stole the show as they strutted down the aisle.
Katie and Nathan worked hard to keep tradition, faith and family incorporated in their wedding. Katie says that her most memorable moment from her special day was walking down the aisle as her sister sang, “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Ingrid Michealson. This song is labeled as Katie and Nathan’s song for each other. Katie cherished that her sister was able to take such a big part in her special day. Their good friends, Jonny and Rachel Hupp with Jeremy Sheets on the cello and Sarah Mauer on the keys, did all of the couple’s ceremony music.
The reception was held at The Skirvin as well. Katie and Nathan celebrated the night with their close friends and family. A live band entertained as guests danced the night away! The newlyweds danced their first dance to “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton.
As the night came to an end, the couple left through a tunnel of family and friends. They honeymooned on the gorgeous island of Maui, Hawaii, where they relaxed on the beach and enjoyed their new titles of Mr. and Mrs. After their getaway, the couple returned to their home state of Oklahoma where they currently reside.
