Hana Avey and Weston Waugh’s Boho Oklahoma Wedding Featuring The Wild Mother
Hana and Weston met the summer before their freshman year of college, and hit it off immediately. College happened, as it does, and they broke up, but got back together over Christmas break of their senior year. The couple shares a love for coffee and design, which was the most common subject of the time they spent together over the next two and a half years.
Weston proposed in March of 2016 in the back yard of Hana’s house in Oklahoma City, which would become their first home together. The wedding took place on a beautiful Saturday in October – the weather was perfect – and the couple was surrounded by their friends and family to help set up for the festivities, which were held in the bride’s parent’s back yard. With more than a thousand feet of twinkle lights, 50 lanterns and 250 clementines later, the yard became a perfect, personal, and meaningful venue in which Hana and Weston recited their vows and celebrated with their friends. The meal consisted of charcuterie boards covered in various meats and cheeses, fresh-cut bread and Caesar salad. The bride’s brother brewed beer for the event, a “Matrimonious Tripel” and “Ferment-To-Be Pale Ale,” which were definite crowd favorites. It was important to the couple to physically “break bread” with their closest friends and family as a way to remember to put Christ first as they began their lives together.
After hitting up the dance floor, the couple sped away in the groom’s late grandfather’s dark green Corvair to spend 10 days exploring the island of Kauai.
