Alicia + Russell’s beautiful Tulsa wedding is pure romance! We love how they met and their sweet engagement story below:
Russell’s annual golf trip to North Carolina turned out to have more in store for him than a few days on the golf course. During chance meeting at a sushi bar, Russell met Alicia. After chatting for a bit, they were surprised to learn they were both raised in Tulsa. After Russell returned to his law practice in Tulsa, the pair spent hours talking on the phone and exploring their many common interests of family, working out, tennis, traveling, good food and wine. Several months later, they reunited for a romantic weekend at the Mandarin Hotel in San Francisco. Russell recalls how his heart pounded when he saw Alicia at the airport for the first time after their first encounter in North Carolina. The couple enjoyed the magical trip of cruising around Alcatraz on a chilly ferry ride buried in one another’s arms, eating fresh fish at Fisherman’s Wharf and having late-night drinks in a dive bar in Chinatown. After that trip, Alicia and Russell knew they had something special.
A few months later, Alicia, at Russell’s urging, moved back to Tulsa to begin an esthetician practice and to be closer to Russell. Together at last, they began creating a lifetime of memories that included learning to snowboard, taking regular trips with Russell’s daughter, learning to surf on trips to Puerto Rico and Maui, and traveling to Paris with Alicia’s mom.
One special Valentine’s Day evening, Russell took Alicia back to a San Francisco for dinner at a quaint vineyard restaurant where he gave her a gold necklace. The couple finished their trip with two nights at the Mandarin, their special place. The pair had scheduled a couple’s massage at the hotel, but Russell had to leave because he was “feeling ill,” while in fact he was picking up a Tiffany’s ring. After a wonderful dinner on their last night on a sky bridge at the Mandarin overlooking the San Francisco night skyline, Russell got down on one knee and proposed.
