Katie and Ryan met in a classic 21st century way – online. They connected on Match.com and after two weeks of messaging and texting, Ryan asked Katie out on a date to her least favorite restaurant in town. Despite the restaurant choice, Katie was happy that they had a lot in common and that Ryan was incredibly kind. Soon after, the pair canceled their online dating accounts and started dating exclusively.

When Ryan’s sister from Florida came to visit, Katie planned a trip to the Wichita Mountains. Little did she know she was helping plan her own proposal. On the way to the top of Mount Scott, Ryan said he needed to grab something from the car and returned with her dog Jasper. A locket with the message “Will you marry me” was attached to the dog. Ryan was down on one knee and wrapped the ring box with “The Unbreakable Vow” – the title of chapter fifteen of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” Ryan’s sister captured the perfect moment with the perfect scenic background.
