Sammy and Alex met at orientation for the University of Oklahoma Law School. Afterward, they went to grab drinks on Campus Corner and they hit it off immediately! They attended law school and dated for several years before Alex knew it was time to propose. He planned an elegant dinner on the top floor of Devon Tower and popped the question while enjoying amazing food with a gorgeous sunset view!
The happy couple was married at St. Francis of Assisi with a reception at the Oklahoma History Center. They chose their ceremony venue because they have a personal connection to the church. Their reception space had tall ceilings, large windows and a view of the Capitol Building where they were both sworn in as attorneys. Using a hot pink, red and dark green color palette, Sammy and Alex went for a woodsy and eclectic style for their wedding. Because they were married in December, they even had several Christmas trees on display for a special touch. Sammy and Alex’s most memorable moment from their wedding was dancing with their family and friends.
Walking down the aisle, the bride felt the love in the room from all of her friends and family. She wore a Tara Keely mermaid, strapless gown consisting of a modern lace bodice and tulle skirt. She complemented the look with a necklace and earrings from her parents.
Sammy’s close friend sang during the ceremony, which was a special touch for the bride. For the reception, the couple hired the Royal Dukes Band as their entertainment. The band kept every guest dancing and kept the party energized. The band played “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton for the bride and groom’s first dance as a married couple.
After wedding planning, Sammy learned that hiring a wedding planner is essential. Her planner, Leslie Herring, kept her on schedule and took care of all the details. She advises future brides to enjoy every part of the process because it passes so quickly.
The newlyweds spent two weeks in Thailand for their honeymoon. They are now enjoying marital bliss in their new home in Oklahoma City.
