Toni Li and Ryan Makipour’s Outdoor Spring Oklahoma Wedding
Toni Li and Ryan Makipour were married on May 22, 2016, at the Gaylord-Pickens Museum in Oklahoma City. The two met during their first year of medical school at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. After four years of studying and working together – but also managing to have fun at the same time – the two received their Doctor of Medicine degrees on May 21, 2016, just a day before their wedding day. The wedding was officiated by classmate and close friend, Dr. Lyle Wesley Baker.
Held outdoors in the museum’s back garden on a balmy Sunday in late spring, the romantic wedding featured plump blooms and striking hues set against the stately backdrop of the museum. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed dinner and dancing as the museum was transformed into the reception venue. Friends and family traveled great distances – from China, Sweden and all over the U.S. – to be present.
Toni is the daughter of Wesley Li and Lilly Sun of Tulsa. Bridesmaids included Yi Sun, Andrea Kellogg, Lauren Evans, Sara Radmard and Kristy Nguyen.
Ryan is the son of John Makipour, Sr. and Zohreh Makipour-Gimpel of Oklahoma City. Groomsmen included John Makipour, Jr., Larry Li, Haris Choudry, Chris Kotlowski, Ramon Jordan and Juan Delara.
The adorable ring bearer Barnett Makipour and flower girl Clementine Makipour scattered petals during the ceremony to set the stage for the bride to walk down the aisle.
Toni and Ryan currently reside in Washington, D.C., where they are pursuing their medical residency training at Georgetown University. Toni plans to practice neurology after training, and Ryan plans to practice radiology. The two are hopeful to return to Oklahoma after residency.
