Vows That Wow — Bailey & Jeffrey

Vows That Wow — Bailey & Jeffrey’s Colorful Scandinavian-Inspired Ballroom Wedding

Week after week, our team has the joy of receiving and sharing beautiful weddings from across Oklahoma, all thanks to the talented vendors and couples who submit their celebrations to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one standout wedding to spotlight, celebrating a day that shines through its creativity, personality, and unforgettable details.

This month, we’re thrilled to feature Bailey & Jeffrey’s colorful, Scandinavian-inspired wedding at The Mayo Hotel. Rooted in family history and brought to life through meaningful details, their celebration paired classic ballroom elegance with vibrant florals and thoughtful nods to Bailey’s Swedish heritage.

THE WEDDING DAY

Bailey & Jeffrey’s celebration began well before they walked down the aisle. In honor of Bailey’s Swedish heritage, the couple hosted a Swedish Midsummer-inspired rehearsal dinner featuring a custom Scandinavian menu by Justin Thompson Restaurants & Catering, inspired by Freya. Old Urban Trolley transported guests for the evening, setting the tone for a wedding weekend filled with meaningful nods to family and tradition.

With XO Event Co. leading the planning, the wedding day transformed The Mayo Hotel into a colorful celebration layered with personal details. The ballroom came to life with patterned BBJ La Tavola linens, rentals from Party Pro Rents, chargers and wedding swag from Margaret Pierce, and lounge seating from Marianne’s Rentals.

Florals from Crooked Roots Design brought even more color to the celebration, with lush arrangements filling the ballroom and complementing the patterned details throughout the reception.

Bailey’s Swedish heritage served as one of the biggest inspirations for the day. Her grandfather immigrated to the United States from Sweden as a child, and growing up, Bailey was surrounded by Scandinavian traditions, family heirlooms, and stories. To honor that history, dala horses appeared throughout the wedding while a traditional Scandinavian-inspired pattern was incorporated into the dance floor, bar back, and stationery.

The nods to Sweden continued into the guest experience. The Mayo Hotel served Swedish meatballs during cocktail hour, while the couple’s signature “Swedish 75” put a lingonberry twist on the classic French 75. “Skål!” appeared on cocktail napkins and the bar, while “Välkommen” welcomed guests on the ceremony programs and welcome signage.

Family history was woven into the couple’s wedding-day looks as well. Bailey paired her gown from La Mariée Boutique, with her great-grandmother’s wedding ring as her “something blue,” keeping a meaningful piece of her family close throughout the celebration. Jeffrey complemented the classic aesthetic in custom attire from William & Lauren Custom Clothier.

An eight-foot photo wall offered another heartfelt tribute to loved ones who could not be there. Among the photographs was an especially meaningful image of Bailey’s grandfather aboard the ship that brought him from Sweden to America before he eventually passed through Ellis Island.

As meaningful as the details were, Bailey & Jeffrey’s favorite memories centered around the people they shared them with. The seamless day was also a testament to Bailey learning one of her biggest lessons during the planning process: trusting her vendor team. After carefully researching vendors, she was able to fully enjoy the wedding without worrying about what was happening behind the scenes.

ON OUR DAY…

“We cherished seeing all the meaningful details that honored both my loved ones who are no longer with us and my heritage. From the Swedish Dala horses and family heirlooms to the jasmine in my bouquet and the kransekage cake, each element helped me feel like they were close to me on our wedding day.” -Bailey & Jeffrey
