Allison and John met through mutual friends. John says it was love at first sight, but it took Allison about six months to come around. After a few months together, John was transferred to Denver so the couple decided to give long-distance dating a try. After this was successful, they made plans for Allison to move to Denver. Surprisingly, she was offered the chance to pursue her master’s degree in Oklahoma and they opted for several more years of being long distance. Everything fell into place when John was unexpectedly transferred back to Oklahoma.
John proposed to Allison on her birthday after a delicious dinner at Red PrimeSteak. Following dinner, he surprised Allison with a party at Bedlam Bar-B-Q with friends and family. He rented out the restaurant as well as food, drinks and a live band to celebrate. When the band was taking a break, John grabbed the microphone and proposed in front of all their friends and family. She said yes, which made for an unforgettable birthday!
Southwind Hills Enchanted Forest was the best location for their rustic bohemian wedding. Allison wanted natural colors and decided to add shades of purple after finding bridesmaid dresses she loved. They used wildflowers and organic blooms to welcome in the spring season. Allison and John loved incorporating special touches into their wedding such as their beloved pet Labradoodles who served as ring bearers, and passing the bouquet to a friend who is a bride-to-be instead of a traditional bouquet toss. After the wedding celebration, Allison surprised her groom with a helicopter ride for their grand exit.
The couple enjoyed a two-week honeymoon in Colorado Springs and Aspen before traveling to the French Polynesian Islands. The newlyweds currently reside in Oklahoma City.
