Leah and Brandon were set up through mutual friends. After a few weeks of text messages, Leah agreed to meet Brandon for their first date at Picasso Café. The sensation Leah felt after seeing Brandon in person that night was unforgettable. The conversation flowed effortlessly and the couple hit it off!
Around Thanksgiving the following year, Leah’s asthma acted up during a car ride home from the gym. While Leah was mentally coaching herself to stay calm and focus on breathing until she arrived home to her inhaler, Brandon sat beside her, working up the courage to propose. Leah was on her second puff of albuterol when Brandon got down on one knee, taking her breath away (again) with a beautiful BC Clark Jewelers’ engagement ring.
With only five months to plan the perfect wedding, Leah and Brandon didn’t waste any time. Leah selected April 16 as the date because it fell in the middle of both their birthdays.
On April 16, 2016, Leah Marie Bates walked down the aisle in a beautiful A-line Sottero and Midgley gown to marry Brandon Ross Humann on the rooftop of Plenty Mercantile. Both the ceremony and the reception were elegant and whimsical, decorated with delicate tones of coral, blush and gold. The restaurant where their love story began catered the delicious food for the reception. Ely Fair Photography captured the exquisite day and much more. Ely managed to photograph their impromptu and intimate first dance to Drew Kennedy’s rendition of “My Girl.” In that beautiful and tender moment, Leah and Brandon were alone as a married couple for the first time.
The magical day prepared them for their equally enchanting honeymoon in Paris. After returning, the newlyweds moved to Loma Linda, California, to begin their lives together.
