Alexandra Willison and Jacob Brandherm’s Classic Vintage Oklahoma Wedding at Dresser Mansion
In September of 2012, Alexandra and Jacob met when they were both out celebrating the beginning of their sophomore year of college with friends at a popular campus bar. The two made eye contact and smiled at each other from across the bar many times throughout the night, but neither made a move until it was about time to leave. When Alexandra and her girlfriends were heading out, one of the girls walked over to the group of boys Jacob was sitting with and introduced herself, purposefully giving Alexandra a chance to meet Jacob. The relationship began to evolve starting the very next day!
The couple had planned a trip to Colorado for spring break during their senior year at the University of Oklahoma. They wanted to explore the state because both of them hoped to live there one day, so the groom planned a mountain hike with college friends who lived in the area. The couple’s friends were all wandering around exploring, purposefully trying to give the couple some time alone. While Alexandra wasn’t paying attention, Jacob stashed the ring box on a large rock near the creek and called her over to see a “treasure” he had found. When she finally saw the ring, he got down on one knee and proposed.
For the wedding, Alexandra went for a vintage-style cocktail party theme and chose vintage floor-length velvet dresses in deep jewel tones, including emerald and sapphire, for the bridesmaids. The rest of the decor was kept light and neutral to achieve a classic, vintage feel that was not overpowering. The groomsmen wore classic gray suits with black ties and black shoes. Alexandra’s dress was a vintage-inspired, ivory Leandra lace and bare stretch silk charmeuse sheath gown that showcased an illusion V-neckline and plunging back neckline with intricate scalloped lace detail. Adding to the memories, Alexandra looked gorgeous as she walked down the aisle in her grandmother’s earrings and garter from her wedding day in 1951. She also wore a unique handmade Paris by Moreland headpiece of gold and jewels.
During cocktail hour, the bride’s cousin, Spenser Morgan, sang and played the ukulele for entertainment. He and the bride are close so it was special to have him play at the wedding. Later, the DJ played a mix of the couple’s favorite songs as well as some classic crowd-pleasers. After an evening full of memories, Alexandra and Jacob left the venue in a vintage get-away car for a romantic evening at The Mayo Hotel.
The lovely couple spent a romantic honeymoon in the luscious Negril, Jamaica, and now resides in Colorado.
