Brittan Elder and John David Willimon’s Mountain Chic Destination Wedding by Gibson Events

Brittan and John David found their way to each other thanks to mutual friends at the University of Oklahoma. Their romance sparked in New Orleans after cheering their Sooners to victory at the OU-Alabama football game. It wasn’t long before the two decided to start dating.

Having a relationship built on fun and laughter, John David chose to propose using the two things he knew Brittan loved most: his sense of humor and their dog, Fitzgerald.

John David began the proposal by telling Brittan that their dog had run away. Naturally, Brittan was so shaken that she frantically hopped in the car and wiped away tears as she scoured the neighborhood in search for her lost pup. About 10 minutes into her search, she received a call from someone within the area telling her that they found Fitzgerald in a field outside the neighborhood. When Brittan arrived to the location, Fitzgerald was there with a sign hanging around his neck that read, “Will you please marry my daddy?” Tears of joy quickly replaced her tears of worry. John David soon appeared and knelt down on one knee. Brittan promptly said yes!

Brittan and John David tied the knot on September 9, 2016. Because Brittan had skied at Keystone Resort in Colorado since she was 4, she knew that she wanted to add her “best day ever” to the list of cherished memories she made there.

Brittan chose a theme of mountain chic and modern romance. Pink Monkey Rentals and Ali Fortunato Botanicals put their vision together by including simple and clean color tones of white, gold and green to complement the atmosphere of the venue. This worked especially well when the bride and groom had their first look atop a mountain Brett Heidebrecht captured perfectly. Guests also basked in the beauty of the mountains as they arrived to the ceremony via gondola. Gibson Events orchestrated everything perfectly and went above and beyond their expectations to execute their dream wedding!

After having the wedding of their dreams, the happy couple packed up and moved to Amarillo, Texas, where they enjoy every moment of married life.
