Caitlyn Marcum and John Farrell III’s Farmhouse Chic Backyard Wedding
Caitlyn and John met while in graduate school at the University of Oklahoma. John asked her on their first date for coffee over winter break. After dating for a while, the couple took a trip to Colorado for Caitlyn’s birthday, and anything that could go wrong on the trip did. On their first day, their car broke down and they had to be towed two hours away. When they got to their destination, they hiked in search of a waterfall. When they found it, John set up his GoPro and called for Caitlyn to take a picture with him. Being difficult, she made him come to her. As he walked toward her, she noticed something in his hand. John got down on one knee at the base of the waterfall and captured the whole romantic proposal on video.
The couple had a farmhouse-chic wedding on May 21, 2016, at the bride’s parent’s house. The bride wore a lace gown with cap sleeves from Moliere Bridal complemented by her sister’s earrings that she wore during her wedding. Caitlyn and John opted for a natural color palette. The talent at Poppy Lane Design created Caitlyn’s striking yet simple bouquet. The bride’s sisters were her matrons of honor, and they, along with her bridesmaids, wore strapless, floor-length, mocha dresses. The simple and classic invitations were from Occasions. Abbey Road Catering provided a beautiful farm-to-table spread, and Amy Cakes made a delicious confection that included tiers of vanilla cake with raspberry filling, and strawberry cake with strawberry filling.
The newlyweds took their honeymoon in Riviera Maya, and currently reside in Norman.
