It’s the Holiday season and we hope you’ll be inspired by this dreamy Oklahoma wedding at The Skirvin Hilton, read on for more details from Sarah and David’s big day:
Mother knows best! David is a wise young man; he followed his mother-in-law’s advice long before it was matrimonially required. When David spotted Sarah on the rooftop of the Oklahoma City Museum of Art during a summer concert, Sarah’s mother noticed his interest and encouraged him to invite Sarah to the dance floor. The couple has been dancing through life together ever since.
When it came time to propose, David wanted the ring to be as special as his bride. He spent months building Sarah’s dream ring: a 3.5 carat oval Ceylon sapphire with a halo of 16 white sapphires set in white platinum. Between his heartfelt proposal and thoughtful , custom ring, Sarah blissfully accepted.
From start to finish, the wedding planning was easy and enjoyable with the help of the professional event planning staff at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel. Dr. Robert Long of St. Luke’s Methodist Church officiated the ceremony in the Continental Room at the Skirvin. The intimate setting allowed the couple’s family and friends to celebrate the marriage in joyful fellowship. A birchwood altar adorned with bouquets of gardenia, spray and garden roses, hydrangeas, peonies and ranunculus centered the room. Hanging mason jars with lit votive candles shined on the couple from the arch. Sarah’s gown, a traditional satin Aline, was accessorized with an elegant, chapel train and a bow and crystal brooch on the front.
Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour followed by a formal plated dinner in the Venetian Room. The reception glittered with centerpieces of gold mercury glass and creative Birdie Blooms florals with the added ambience of the ornately decadent room. The bride specifically chose the Skirvin during the holiday season for the added beauty and charm provided by the hotel’s Christmas decorations. Guests enjoyed music by Stars, a five-piece live band. The couple’s out-of-town guests undoubtedly appreciated the convenience of the festivities. In addition to serving as the site for both the wedding and reception, the Skirvin also provided the perfect location to allow family and friends to explore some of the couple’s favorite spots in Oklahoma City, many within walking distance of the hotel.
The couple honeymooned at the Timber Lodge Resort in South Lake Tahoe, California. They reside in Oklahoma City.
