Sunia and Ali were brought together by a stroke of luck. The couple had met before Ali interviewed in Oklahoma City for his neurosurgery residency. He ended up matching at OU Medical Center where Sunia worked as an ICU nurse and she took that as a sign of fate. They had their first date right after their shifts ended and were both still wearing their scrubs.
When they first started dating, Ali and Sunia spent time outside to get to know each other. They would walk and talk for hours about their dreams and goals in life. One of the first places they visited was Riversport in downtown Oklahoma City and six months later Ali decided that was the perfect place to propose. Sunia’s friends had brought her to the area and told her that Ali was staying late for a surgery. Instead, he asked her to marry him and she happily said yes.
