Elegant Tulsa Wedding at The Summit Club | Annabeth + Marty

AnnaBeth and Marty met in a very unconventional way – a weeklong blind date. After a two-year long distance relationship, Marty popped the question at AnnaBeth’s childhood home in Houston.

AnnaBeth is the daughter of Robert and Brenda DeShurley, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Marty is the son of the late Ivan and Adina Williams, and graduated from the University of Arkansas.

AnnaBeth wore a fully beaded Casablanca Bridal gown with a cathedral-length embroidered veil. The dress included a special heirloom label inside created by her mother made out of Marty’s mother’s wedding dress. She carried an all white cascading bouquet of roses and tulips.

As the church doors opened, organ music filled the ornate church to the tune of “The Prince of Denmark’s March.” AnnaBeth and Marty exchanged traditional Episcopalian vows and took communion with all who attended. When the service ended, several ladies of the church gave the couple a special gift. Because it had rained that morning, they had collected the rainwater, blessed it and presented it for them to use for their future children’s christenings.

The reception was held at the Summit Club. Cocktail hour began on the 31st floor overlooking Tulsa. There were drinks, hors d’oeuvres and cigars for guests to enjoy while a pianist played old jazz. When the couple arrived, guests moved to the 30th floor where the Wade Tower Orchestra greeted them with the classic big band sounds that are a favorite of the couple.

Because AnnaBeth and Marty’s two precious dogs were not able to attend the wedding, AnnaBeth surprised Marty with a groom’s cake from Icing on the Top that matched their likeness perfectly! There was also a delicious assortment of Bavarian cheesecake from Ludger’s Bavarian Cakery.

In lieu of favors, the couple had guests select a charity for a donation to be made to in honor of Marty’s parents.

AnnaBeth and Marty spent the next week in Bora Bora soaking up the sun.

The couple currently resides in Tulsa, where AnnaBeth is working for the Boy Scouts and Marty is working for the family business, Williams Construction.
