Gillian and Matt met in September of 2011 while attending Oklahoma State University. One night, Gillian was studying in her room when she heard a loud banging coming from four boys who lived above her. Frustrated, she went upstairs to not so politely ask them to keep it down. Afterward, she felt bad and returned to their room to apologize. The boys invited Gillian and her roommate to hang out anytime they wanted, and they met up the following weekend. She met Matt, and they immediately hit it off. A few months later, he asked her to be his girlfriend, and they’ve been together ever since!

A few years later, one of Gillian’s best friends invited her to a Brides of Oklahoma event in downtown Oklahoma City. As they walked down the steps into the botanical garden, Gillian saw Matt appear from behind a tree, and she knew what was actually happening. He got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, and she said yes. The couple could not wait to start their future together!

Gillian and Matt’s classic and chic wedding consisted of a glam color palette of red, black and gold. Gillian was inspired by beautiful red roses and over-the-top centerpieces for her decor. The bride walked down the aisle in a Moscato-toned, organza and tulle gown with a pleated bodice, portrait neckline, drop waist and chapel train by Essense of Australia. She complemented her dress with a belt made with blush ribbon and crystal centerpiece, an elbow-length veil and Kendra Scott earrings.

At their reception, the bride and groom served passed hors d’oeuvres consisting of stuffed mushrooms, skewered Caprese salad, and a chicken and apple chip. The entree was a filet and salmon duet with wild mushroom risotto and sautéed asparagus accompanied by a Caesar salad. The cake was a buttercream four-tier cake by Amy Cakes in flavors of French vanilla, chocolate and pumpkin. The gorgeous confection was painted gold on one layer with bands of gold sequins around the bottom. Gillian and Matt danced to “From the Ground Up” by Dan + Shay for their first dance as man and wife.

For the bride, her most memorable moment was her father’s speech. He talked about the day she was born when she almost didn’t make it due to complications. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room, and Gillian will never forget that emotional moment.

The bride and groom honeymooned in beautiful Cancun. The happy couple now lives in Fort Worth.
