Kaitlyn and Kyle met at Oklahoma State University when Kaitlyn’s sorority was paired with Kyle’s fraternity for intramural sports. They were on the same flag football team and quickly became good friends. A little over a year later and when the time was right, they started to date.
After dating for over five years, the proposal finally happened! Kaitlyn and Kyle went to San Diego with Kaitlyn’s family to visit her brother, Jackson. Kaitlyn and Jackson had plans to run in a half marathon together, aptly called the Celebration Run. Little did Kaitlyn know there would soon be a lot to celebrate. Unbeknownst to her, Kyle had purchased an engagement ring while traveling to Oklahoma City from Kansas City after attending a Royals game. He made a pit stop in Tulsa at Kaitlyn’s parent’s house to ask their permission to ask for Kaitlyn’s hand in marriage. Kaitlyn’s parents were thrilled! While in San Diego, Kyle planned a romantic proposal on Coronado Island at sunset! Kaitlyn’s family was able to secretly watch from a distance and take pictures. The celebratory evening ended with dinner at 1500 Ocean at Hotel del Coronado.
Following the proposal, it was nonstop planning until their wedding day on September 26, 2015. The weekend began with the bridesmaid’s brunch at The Wild Fork followed by the rehearsal and dinner at ONEOK Field. The wedding day started with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in honor of Kaitlyn’s mom, a breast cancer survivor. Many family members and friends came out to show their support for Kaitlyn’s mom, which started the day off right! The wedding at Christ the King was beautiful, followed by a wonderful celebration of love, laughter and a lot of dancing in the Crystal Ballroom at The Mayo Hotel.
Kaitlyn and Kyle set off for their honeymoon in Turks and Caicos and stayed for a week at Seven Stars Resort. As much fun as they had, they were ready to be at their new home in Kansas City to start their life together as husband and wife… and see their beloved dogs.
