This well-decorated intimate backyard wedding captured by Kayley Haulmark Photography may not have been the couple’s original plan, but it certainly exceeded all expectations in the end! Like so many other lovebirds planning weddings during COVID-19, Shelby and Dylan held out hope that their beautiful California vineyard wedding at the beginning of 2020 would pan out. About four weeks before they were set to be wed on May 13, they switched gears and began planning a sweet ceremony in the bride’s parent’s backyard in Oklahoma City. In making this switch, they also changed their date to a more meaningful May 22, the exact date of their 4.5 year anniversary. Their guests stayed in luxe accommodations at the Renaissance Waterford Oklahoma City ahead of Shelby and Dylan’s big day where small-scale obviously did not apply to the stunning styling of each area of their intimate backyard wedding scape. Guests got in the spirit with the couple’s choice of a Stop and Smell the Rosé station to grab and go to the ceremony area where the Droeges were married in a lush green corner of the backyard in the presence of their closest friends and family.
Bride Shelby looked like a dream in a romantic Willowby by Watters Hearst Gown from Bella Rose Bridal in the shade, Titanium featuring oversized floral appliques that accent this gown’s fitted bodice and float down the frothy A-line skirt. Its deep v-neckline, open back, and side cutouts make this wedding dress an absolute showstopper and with her pear-shaped BC Clark Jewelers wedding ring to complement, we know all eyes were on Shelby all night long! Decor from Marianne’s Rentals had a major moment, including a gorgeous ceremony arch draped with chiffon fabric, a cozy lounge area, as well as the dreamy string lights hung inside the tent. Shelby, Dylan, and their party people ate delicious cake created by Mishelle Handy Cakes, drank, and danced the night away until the DJ mentioned over the microphone that the pool was open during the reception – then it wasn’t long until the first person jumped in. This intimate backyard wedding made for some sweet memories that will last a lifetime! Read on for a note from the bride about one of her favorite wedding vendors and what made them so special. Cheers to the Droeges!
From the bride: “I cannot recommend Marianne’s Rentals enough! They had everything I could think of to make our backyard the dreamiest ceremony and reception venue I could imagine. From the ceremony arch draped with chiffon fabric, unique couches and oversized lanterns in the lounge area, to the stunning string lights hung inside the tent that created the most magical ambiance when the sun went down. Not to mention they set everything up for us the night before and came to take it all down the next morning.”
