Joanna and Mitchell met through mutual friends while attending Oral Roberts University in 2009. They didn’t hit it off at first, but five years later they reconnected and fell for each other instantly.

Mitchell knew he wanted to spend forever with Joanna. One day when she was at work, Mitchell decorated their brand new home with rose petals, flowers and candles. When Joanna arrived, she saw Mitchell standing by the fireplace in a suit. He shocked Joanna by getting down on one knee to propose. Their closest friends, family and a photographer came out from another room to celebrate afterward.

Joanna and Mitchell’s natural, fall wedding consisted of deep burgundy shades with accents of greenery and light pink. The bride walked down the aisle in an ivory lace and tulle Hayley Paige ball gown with a scalloped bodice and open back. She completed the look with a chapel-length veil and pear-shaped rose gold earrings by Meg Guess.

The lovely reception at Spain Ranch included catering by Just Catering by Orr. The couple served their guests a mixed green salad, Sicilian chicken, beef tenderloin, roasted Yukon gold slices and fresh grilled veggies. Banks Entertainment provided the DJ for the event to keep the guests dancing all night. Joanna and Mitchell danced their first dance as a married couple to “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne. Mitchell added a personal touch to the reception by brewing his own apricot sour beer to serve at their wedding.

The most memorable moment of the day for the couple was their first look. When Joanna noticed Mitchell was wearing his groomsman’s tie instead of his own, it made them both laugh and helped to ease the nerves of the big day.

The happy couple spent a gorgeous honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. They currently reside in Tulsa.
