KRISTEN + BURRIS
50 Shades of Engaged
Burris invited me to go on an annual trip to Vancouver, Canada with his family in August 2018. The first day we got there he told me he wanted to take us on a helicopter ride so I could see all of Vancouver. I had never been on a helicopter before so I was excited! I thought it was pretty romantic and that something might be up, but I wasn’t sure he would propose since it’s hard to hear on a helicopter! I thought we would just be flying above the city. The helicopter was really nice (the same one used in the 50 Shades of Grey movie!). We took off and the pilot took us straight into the mountains. It was gorgeous. He then took us into the glaciers and said “Let’s land up here and we can get out!” And that’s when my heart started to race! We landed the helicopter on top of a snowy glacier and got out to look around. I was wearing jeans, a short sleeved shirt, and sandals. My feet froze in the snow but I was too excited to care. Burris then got down on one knee and popped the question. There was nothing around us in sight but miles and miles of snowy mountains – no roads, people or houses. The most special part was that he proposed with my mom’s wedding ring (my mom passed away 10 years ago and left me her ring for when I would get married so it was very sentimental for me). So I of course said YES! We opened a bottle of wine on the mountain top and just soaked up the moment. It was the most perfect day of my life and I’ll cherish the memories forever. He truly went above and beyond anything I had ever expected!
