Rachael Hackett and John Cockerell Jr.’s Surprise Boho Backyard Wedding
Rachael and John share a love that many dream of, and they couldn’t wait to get married and start their life together. Instead of inviting friends and family to a traditional wedding, the couple decided to surprise their guests with the ceremony! On April 30, 2016, Rachel and John invited everyone to a party at her aunt’s house. Rachel even wore a fun cocktail dress to throw the guests off. Their parents gave a welcome toast about 30 minutes into the party, after which Rachael snuck away to change into her wedding gown.
With the help of Emerson Events, the surprise ceremony went off flawlessly. Brightly colored smoke bombs were set off on the other side of the yard, which guests headed toward only to find the ceremony tent set up and a string quartet playing. Rachael looked stunning as she walked down the aisle in her JJ Kelly gown, carrying a natural hand-tied bouquet featuring Juliet garden roses, coral and peach ranunculus, thistle, Queen Anne’s lace, and textured foliage.
The couple wanted a boho casual wedding, which colors of gold, magenta, teal and other jewel tones helped achieve. Guests enjoyed a delicious cake by Amy Cakes after the cake cutting, which was the only traditional part of the entire event. The ceremony was exactly what Rachael and John hoped it would be, and it is definitely something the couple, as well as their guests, will remember forever.
Rachael and John are currently enjoying married life in Oklahoma City.
