Rustic Oklahoma Wedding from Gibson Events | Megan + Erick

There’s just something about a gorgeous rustic wedding like Megan and Erick’s that makes our Oklahoma hearts go pitter-pat! Check out all the amazing Oklahoma wedding vendors (to the right) who helped make Megan and Erick’s wedding day a dream, and keep reading for more of their sweet story:

Megan and Erick met for the first time at a fifth-grade football game. Megan thought Erick was incredibly cute but nothing transpired for a few years. The pair attended the same middle and high school, but parted ways in college; Megan attended Oklahoma State University and Erick went to the University of Central Oklahoma. During their summer break after freshman year, Megan and Erick reconnected and have been together ever since.

The night before Erick proposed, he took Megan to see the band Souled Out at the UCO Jazz Lab. Megan noticed he was acting very strange. When Megan asked him what was wrong, he said she would find out tomorrow. The following morning, Megan came home from running errands to find flower petals on the steps leading up to their apartment. When she went inside, Erick had lit candles and set out a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. He read a note he had written her and got down on one knee, all the while secretly recording the whole proposal on his phone. After she said yes, Megan and Erick celebrated with family and friends at Packard’s rooftop bar.

Ten months later, on a cloudy day at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Megan and Erick exchanged vows in front of friends and family. The Oklahoma Strings played “Ave Maria” as Megan walked down the aisle in an A-line Hayley Paige dress and cathedral veil. Upon being announced as Mr. and Mrs., the couple exited the church to “Ode to Joy.” As they were leaving the church, the sun came out and their wedding day ended up being an absolutely beautiful March day. Ironically, Souled Out also provided the music for the reception. Megan and Erick enjoyed their reception with loved ones before riding away in a classic car at sunset.
