Traditional Oklahoma Wedding Captured by Holly Gannett Photography | Joanna + Tony
April 28
Joanna and Tony met after mutual friends introduced them in hopes that they would hit it off. Turns out, the pair was a perfect match! After a while, Tony asked Joanna to dinner and a movie. The two have been inseparable ever since!
On the couple’s three-year anniversary, Tony made dinner reservations at Park House in downtown Oklahoma City at the Myraid Botanical Gardens. As the couple strolled through the Meinders Garden Terrace, Tony took Joanna’s hands in his and as he bent down on one knee he said, “There is only one thing I have ever wanted to ask you: Will you marry me?” Joanna was ecstatic by his proposal and of course said yes! The couple proceeded to dinner where the staff provided complimentary champagne and appetizers to celebrate the occasion. The following week, the pair was surprised with an engagement party hosted by family and friends.
Joanna and Tony arranged a very traditional Roman Catholic wedding ceremony at the bride’s hometown church, the same church where earlier generations of her family were also married. The bride chose a designer gown from Stephanie Allin of London in ivory duponi silk. The strapless, sculptured bodice with a sweetheart neckline and natural waist, released her box pleated skirt cascading to a Royal Cathedral train with silk-covered buttons gracing the length of her gown. For the ceremony, the bride wore a long-sleeved Chantilly lace shrug with pearl buttons, silk and taffeta cummerbund and bow. For the reception, her jacket was removed and J.J. Kelly of Oklahoma City, Okla., designed a grand, custom matching silk bow and bustle. To complete the ensemble, the bride wore a Royal Cathedral blusher veil of gossamer illusion with imported French Alencon lace trim by Toni Federici. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white orchids, lily of the valley, garden roses, stephanotis and anemones with pearl details. The colors of the wedding were black, white and blush.Joanna wore a baby blue garter, which was also worn by her mother and sister during their weddings, to resemble something borrowed and something blue. Keeping with tradition, Joanna wore her mother’s peacock blue wedding gown as a cocktail dress for the rehearsal dinner and the flower girl wore the same ivory dress the bride and bride’s sister wore in family weddings. Joanna and Tony danced to a choreographed waltz during their first dance as a married couple to “Crazy Love” by Michael Bublé.
Joanna and Tony honeymooned in Playa Mujeres, Mexico, after their memorable wedding. The couple currently resides in Oklahoma City and is enjoying married life!
