Traditional Oklahoma Wedding | Nikki + Tyler

It all started when Nikki and Tyler met on a high school mission trip to Mexico with Crossings Community Church. Even though the couple attended different high schools, they dated throughout and ended up at the University of Oklahoma together.

After seven years of dating, Tyler popped the question in the same back yard where they shared their first kiss. Nikki was thrilled to see her high school sweetheart down on one knee holding the engagement ring of her dreams. The perfect proposal got even better when they arrived at her parents’ house where friends and family surprised them with a party! The next surprise for Nikki was that Tyler and her mom had already picked a date and booked the church to accommodate Nikki’s school schedule. Following the engagement, wedding plans immediately began!

Before they knew it, the big weekend had arrived. The groom’s parents hosted a lovely rehearsal dinner at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club where guests enjoyed dinner, toasts and plenty of celebrating prior to the big day. Nikki and Tyler were married at the Crossings Chapel and their high school youth pastor, Andy Rauschkolb, officiated. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father in an Allure Couture gown holding a bouquet of Juliet roses, peonies, calla lilies and ranunculus. The elegant ceremony was traditional with 400 guests in attendance.

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed dinner, drinks and dancing at the Petroleum Club of Oklahoma City. The couple’s favorite memory of the reception was when friends and family circled them swaying and singing to Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.” The evening concluded as the couple ran through a tunnel of guests shaking gold pom poms and they made their grand exit in Tyler’s 1970 Chevrolet truck, the same truck the couple traveled in during so many dates growing up.

The newlyweds enjoyed a week in paradise at the Excellence Resort in Playa Mujeres, Mexico. They now reside in Oklahoma City where Nikki is working on her master’s degree and Tyler is a project engineer at a construction company.
