Chance Nichols and Mackenzi Metz met when they were just sophomores at Sante Fe High School. Mackenzi had transferred from Oklahoma Christian School and it was not long before their romance began.

Chance and Mackenzi were celebrating their nine-year anniversary, and Mackenzi was almost positive a proposal was coming. Chance knew she would be expecting it so he threw her off by popping the question to the love of his life about two weeks after celebrating their anniversary! Mackenzi was extremely surprised and, of course, said yes.

Mackenzi wanted something different from what she had been seeing on Pinterest. She wanted something tropical, which she pulled together perfectly. Keeping their special day modern with a little edge, the couple added a few personal touches. They used custom handmade stamps on all the wedding gifts accompanied by handwritten notes that thanked their guests for celebrating with them. With their reception being outside, the thoughtful couple had adorable pink and white flip-flops for all the female guests, so their heels would not be ruined in the grass. The shoes were placed at a pretty table with custom tablecloths and beautiful floral arrangements by Tony Foss Flowers. Custom table settings with Mackenzi’s favorite fabric adorned the front two tables of the reception as the guests walked in and looked absolutely amazing!

On June 21, 2014, the couple said, “I do” at Crossing Community Church in Edmond. Mackenzi wore a stunning mermaid style, Vera Wang gown with a tulle veil. She added a personal touch to her wedding look by accessorizing with her mother’s diamond earrings and her great-grandmother’s diamond bracelet. She carried a bouquet of light pink and cream peonies and roses. It goes without saying that the bride took the groom’s breath away that day. Mackenzi’s maid of honor was her close friend, Haley Kinzie. Haley and the bridesmaids wore LulaKate dresses from Prim. Each dress was a different shade of vibrant pink and purple. They carried bouquets that matched their dresses with assortments of pink and purple peonies. Chance’s best man was his twin brother, Brady Nichols. Accompanying him were five groomsmen.

Her father, Patrick Metz, escorted Mackenzi down the aisle. The couple had two flower girls, Vivian Edge and Alexis Sapp, who stole the show with their adorable entrance. Looking back on their special day, the couple says that their most memorable moment was being officially announced husband and wife. Mackenzi and Chance said that moment was the one they had been waiting for. The happy couple had their reception outside at the home of Mackenzi’s parents. The backyard was breathtaking. Lights were strung throughout the trees, and vibrant centerpieces flourished at every table. The yard had a slight tropical feel to it, which accompanied the colors well. A dance floor was set up for the couple and their guests to dance the night away. The couple shared their first dance as husband and wife to “Hallelujah I Love Her So” by Ray Charles. The wedding day went flawlessly with the help of day of coordinator Leslie Herring. The party carried into the night until it was time for the newlyweds to leave for their honeymoon. Family and friends sent the couple off with sparklers.

Mackenzi and Chance spent their honeymoon at the Ritz-Carlton in St. Thomas. They now reside in Oklahoma City, where Chance is attending his third year of medical school and Mackenzi is in medical sales at Majors Medical Supply.
