Meeting in science class during their junior year of high school, Amy and PJ quickly realized schoolwork wasn’t the only kind of chemistry they were experiencing! Six years later, PJ surprised Amy with a proposal at their favorite University of Oklahoma spot, followed by an engagement celebration with the couple’s families.
The high school sweethearts tied the knot July 11, 2015, at the Meinders Hall of Mirrors at the Civic Center Music Hall. Amy walked down the aisle to the incredible floral arch created by Birdie Blooms in an ivory fairytale-like ball gown designed by Maggie Sottero. The frock featured a Swarovski crystal bodice, sweetheart neckline and a chic organza skirt with pops of gold accents. Headlining the bride’s gown was a gorgeous cathedral-length veil with lace edges that was worn by Amy’s mother on her wedding day. Amy also wore earrings and a necklace borrowed from Lewis Jewelers as her “something borrowed,” her mother’s diamond and sapphire ring as her “something blue,” and PJ’s late mother’s gold bracelet for her “something old,” and her perfume served as her “something new.” The bride clutched a purple bouquet of jasmine vine, peonies, Juliet roses and foxglove to complete her stunning look.
Following the ceremony, guests indulged in delicious food catered by Abbey Road and danced the night away with music by DJ Matt Vaughan from Beat Boss Entertainment. The celebration led to the memorable moment of Amy and PJ’s first dance to the acoustic version of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” As the wonderful night came to an end, the couple could not have been more overjoyed to be “taylored together” for the rest of their lives.
Amy and PJ spent their blissful honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico, enjoying each other’s company. The bride and groom now reside in Norman where they are both in law school.
