Dazzling Winter Wedding in Downtown OKC | Amy + Matt

In the blink of an eye, Amy and Matt went from being co-workers to a couple after they were introduced through mutual friends while working at Devon Energy in Oklahoma City in 2011. It wasn’t long before Matt knew Amy was the woman of his dreams, and he planned a surprise proposal on a long weekend trip. Amy and Matt were in Dallas with their friends for a concert and had just arrived at the Stoneleigh Hotel when Matt told Amy he wanted her to see the courtyard. Instead, he led her to a table that had champagne and roses waiting for her. Needless to say, Matt’s proposal came quickly after and Amy joyfully accepted.

Amy Lynn Cole married Matthew Kyle Hogg on February 1, 2014, at the Oklahoma State Capitol. Amy is the daughter of Ron and Barbara Cole, and granddaughter of Wayne and Mary Robnett. The groom is the son of Jack and Leesa Hogg, and grandson of Dwight and Peggy Hogg, and Merlin and Patsy Nippert. The beautiful wedding was officiated by Kim Hayes and coordinated by Sue and Lou Events.

Harpist Gaye Leblanc gracefully performed during the ceremony while the bride was escorted down the aisle by her father in a stunning Mori Lee gown. It was a dark ivory fit-and-flare style gown with a sweetheart neckline, satin empire waist and light gold beaded lace appliqués. Amy did not wear a veil, and instead opted for a vintage ivory and gold hair comb with pearls and diamonds. Pearl and diamond drop earrings and a bracelet added sparkle to Amy’s bridal look. In her hands she carried a lovely bouquet with ivory garden roses, hydrangea, ranunculus, brunia berries, dusty miller, with touches of pale blush with crystal stems tied in silver satin with a band of crystals.

A bride is never far from her maids, and with Amy it was no exception. Amy’s bridal party consisted of Karlee Bohn, Sarah Poynor, Kendall Miller, Tori Petete, Danielle Beller and Laura Leffler, and the matron of honor, Kristen Marney. Matt’s best man was Josh Leffler, and his groomsmen were Jantz Wald, Chance Jenkins, Tyler Grimmett, Matt Long, Matt Beavers and Sam McCurdy. Halle Porter was a darling flower girl, while Ethan Cole and Hayes Porter charmed the guests as ring bearers.

After the ceremony, the party moved to the First National Center in downtown Oklahoma City. Amy chose her venue so she could maintain her “winter glam” theme. Ice blue uplighting cans lit up large dazzling trees covered with crystals, which made them really sparkle. Ice sculptures with flames coming out of them added a perfect “wow” effect. Silver satin and silver-sequined linens covered the tables. The centerpieces were a combination of large cylinder vases with hydrangeas and frosted branches with hanging crystals and white LED lights lighting up the vases. For the move from the ceremony to the reception, Amy donned a white fur shawl, reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour.

The crystals shimmered as Amy and Matt took their first dance as husband and wife to “At Last” by Etta James. After the first hour of eating and dancing, Amy changed into a more comfortable outfit – a short white Sherri Hill dress with a fully-beaded bodice, V-back and pleated tulle skirt. This way it was easier for her to shake and shimmy with her new husband and their guests to the live band, Souled Out.

For dessert, a chic s’mores bar kept the glam theme going. Each bar was surrounded with plush white lounge couches. Along with the s’mores, a beautiful four-tier cake with a crystal “H” on top served as an additional glamorous dessert. At the end of the evening, Amy and Matthew ran through a sparkler exit and then everyone came back inside to finish the night with “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey. It was one of the most memorable moments of the night for the couple who were so happy to see their closest friends and family singing, dancing and having a great time.

The couple currently resides in Oklahoma City where Amy works as an accountant at Devon Energy and Matthew is the vice president of acquisitions and divestitures at Double Eagle Development.
