Jacque met Jarrett through mutual friends in 2008. It wasn’t long before Jarrett realized Jacque was the woman of his dreams. Several years later, he proposed at a rooftop restaurant in Florida while watching fireworks with her family nearby. After he popped the question, and she accepted, Jacque’s whole family celebrated by jumping into the restaurant’s rooftop pool!
On May 10, 2014, Jacqueline Michelle Smauder married James Jarrett Morrison at the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa. The ceremony was officiated by Gator Thompson and coordinated by Sharon Holm. Mark Bruner and Shelby Eicher played the guitar and fiddle throughout the ceremony. Phil Smauder, the bride’s father, escorted Jacque down the aisle in a gown she designed herself. It was a beautiful ivory and champagne strapless fit-and-flare gown with a full lace bodice embellished with crystals and pearls, and a sweetheart neckline with a full silk organza ruffled skirt. The lace from her bodice matched the lace trim on her veil. The belt was made of satin, lace, silk, floral pieces and feathers. Jacque wore a pair of silver crystal drop earrings, her mother’s pearl bracelet and diamond ring. The bridal bouquet was a simple mix of blush and white peonies. It perfectly matched her blush pink Badgley Mischka peep toe d’orsay heels with ruffles at the toe. Layers of soft laser-cut silk petals created a modern ruffle accent, perfect for Jacque’s big day.
The wedding party was happy to help celebrate with the couple on their big day and before. The bridesmaids’ luncheon was held at the Philbrook Museum, and the rehearsal dinner was at McNellie’s Sidebar. Rebecca Carroll served as the matron of honor, and Eric Morrison was the best man. Bridesmaids Ashlee Gunsalus, Cynthia Gray, Samantha Griggs, Allison Niebes-Davis, Crystal Grams and Hannah Morrison wore short dresses in dark lavender accented with silver heels. They carried bouquets of pink, blush and white hydrangeas and roses. Groomsmen Kyle Powell, Pagee Hartley, Garret Warnick, Michael Smauder, Jacob Smauder and Tyler Hicks wore charcoal suits with lilac ties and pocket squares.
Following the ceremony, the group moved to the reception hosted by the bride’s parents, Susan and Phillip Smauder, also at the Tulsa Country Club. After leading the processional, Jacque and Jarrett took photos on the green under the endless Oklahoma sky that was slowly slipping into dusk. The bride and groom swept in and took their first dance as husband and wife to “One Woman” by The Randy Rogers Band. They had a blast spending the rest of the night dancing with their loved ones thanks to Banks Entertainment.
The indoor venue was perfect for the stylish wedding with dark-wooded exposed beams and beige walls. A sea of circular tables draped in white filled the room. At each table, a tall silver centerpiece, either an elegant flute of white and blush pink flowers or silver candlesticks, rested in the middle on top of a shimmering silver table runner. They also had short floral centerpieces in addition to the candelabras and tall floral centerpieces. Tables with the candelabras also had three small floral arrangements at the base to ensure every table had flowers. At each place setting sat silver boxes of chocolates adorned with an “M” for guests to enjoy. Jacque chose a white and silver, six-tier cake with floral and lace accents. In lieu of a cake topper, a large blush pink flower was used and a simple white “M” emblem was placed on the fourth tier. Around the cake table, strands of white orchids were hung from the ceiling, adding a delicate and romantic feeling to the room. A personal touch was added to the evening with pink and lavender napkins with “Jacque & Jarrett” fun facts printed on them. Even though the couple took a first look before the ceremony, they stuck to tradition at the reception. Toward the end of the night, the couple cut the cake and Jacque’s father gave a father-of-the-bride toast. Jarrett even retrieved Jacque’s garter under all that organza!
The newlyweds retreated from the reception in a vintage car and later to their honeymoon in Jamaica. Jacque and Jarrett currently split their time between Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
